im runnin 4.88s with 33s(will be gettin 35s by summer) but at 60 mph my rpms are at about 2300, also i never knew about the strength of the gears but for 35s ive heard 4.88s are about right for power and 4.56 will give you better mileage, btw after i geared i didnt gain any mpg maybe 1 or 2 but a shitload of power lol

I'm running 4.56 gears with 35s and its perfect. It doesn't scream on the highway and it will still get up and go.

Though numericaly they arent that much difference, I pointed out on the first page why the .88's arent as strong.

    tacoridinhigh,

I see that you have 37's and have 4.88 gears.

I am also thinking about going with 37's not doing any wheeling or anything just for looks. do you like 4.88?

Will it stop my truck from vibrating when shifting into 2nd gear at any speed slower than 15mph?

Dude new tires and gears is expensive not to use them to just show them off.

    Well that is your opinion.

I want the tires for the look and I just figure the gears are a must as to not mess with the transmission as much. and also not make my truck totally useless while city driving.

Changing gears to accomodate larger tires is never a bad idea.

I would never ever drop that kind of money for a truck that's not going to see dirt. Think about it how much are 37s? I have no idea but maybe 300 a piece (total guess) then gears that's about 700 and then if you're 4x it would be another 7. So 2600 for gears and tires...but oh wait 37s aren't going to fit your rims so that's at very least another 300 (I'm thinking steelies) and then a massive lift which is a coupla grand. So overall you're gonna have about 5-7 grand in a truck that get horrendous gas mileage and has no real purpose Offroad. Just my 2 cents not tryin to be an asshole

I don't care if your broke ass would pay that much or not. I'm going to pay to have my truck look the way I want and do what I want.

I am amazed at the ignorance of people here always trying to bash what people want to do. I am just looking for info not what some douche bag thinks about how I should spend my money.
People buy $80,000 vehicles for the look all the time, I'm just doing it with a truck and adding what I want.

oh ya... one last thing.. get a life

I have 88's and have no reason to complain. Granted, I live in WA and the lambs don't drive too fast here, so I don't have issues with losing a little top end. If I was living in So Cal, I might get the 56's but like everyone is saying...it's not that big of a deal! Go with the 88's, you'll have more power off the line and better control for slower wheelin'. My 3 cents.

I drove to California this summer and shook my fist like a Geezer at those damn rascals driving 80 everywhere. Then I reached between my legs, felt my man tools, and hit the gas.

Two weeks later, I got a speeding ticket in WA! Damn it!
