2nd gen Tacoma with 4.6. Why is this not a reality? Yeah yeah, I know supercharger. As good as that 4.0 sounds, it ain't no V8. Anyone know of transplants?

I hate to be a bother, but I think others have made threads about v8 tacomas..

At least one guy has done it, but only pictures have been shown anyway.

I'm not saying the 4.0 isn't potent, but V8's get better hwy milage, (not that that's why I want one) But more towing power, and better yet the sound of 2 banks of 4 just sounds better IMO.

Oh beg to differ, at least on windy mountain roads. I guess freeway milage is different but I wouldn't know, I don't drive on them. I'd prolly drive something else, like a Lexus...

IMO the horsepower gains are not significant enough to justify the HORRENDOUS gas mileage that would come with 2 extra cylinders. I've driven a 4runner with the v8 and its really not that much faster then the 4.0L. Now a 5.7L 4x4 would make me jizz my pants.

btw there have been MILLIONS AND MILLIONS OF THREADS ON THIS. :deadhorse: :deadhorse: :deadhorse: :deadhorse: :deadhorse: :deadhorse: :deadhorse: :deadhorse: :deadhorse: :deadhorse: :deadhorse: :deadhorse: :deadhorse: :deadhorse: :deadhorse: :deadhorse: :deadhorse: :deadhorse: :deadhorse: :deadhorse: :deadhorse: :deadhorse: :deadhorse: :deadhorse: :deadhorse: :deadhorse: :deadhorse: :deadhorse: :deadhorse: :deadhorse: :deadhorse: :deadhorse: :deadhorse: :deadhorse: :deadhorse: :deadhorse: :deadhorse: :deadhorse:

I'm sorry but the 4.6 would not get horrendous mpg like the 5.7. It would be worse but not by much.

dropping 2 gears on a long hill=bad milage.
pulling a long gear with torque=better, not good, but better milage. And sounds better doing it.
