There has been a lot and I mean a lot of people asking about this build so here it goes.

    Donor
    2002 tundra 4x4 4.7

    Project truck
2010 regular cab tacoma 70k miles

It all started with my dad he went into our local deal with 1 thing on his mind, a v8 tacoma. After sitting there for 3 hours going back and forth about how it can't be done (whatever I showed them the build from sema) we walked out and went on to get a second hand truck (22k miles when we got it) and the build planning began....

First thing was I wanted a basic "puck lift" and some 33's no problems there 20140529_155937.jpg

And I was happy with how the truck did.... for the most part

Took it trailing and got it stuck a few times and my friends said you need some 35's so I said fuck it let's get a set and then they said I need to get a hight lift to clear (I'm on a 2in leveling kit in the front) I said fuck that I wanna stay low so I'll cut the body (my dad is a body guy) so the 35's went on and we made it fit 20150524_172457.jpg

And oh boy that's when the fun started I welded the rear I got a shackle flip kit for the rear and I thought I was done.... nope I got rejected on a few hills and guess what out with the 35's and in with the 37's 20160120_221232.jpg

Please keep in mind I'm still on a 2in leveling kit in the front and shackle flip on the rear.

At this point I was done with the tires and the 4cyl with the 4.10 wasn't cutting it anymore... no the v8 didn't start yet. I went and got 4.88 gears to compensate for the tires and it helped I mean it wasn't the best thing to drive on the road but it wasn' the worse.

Borrowed tires from a friend these stand at 38x9

Oh and I ripped off the stock bumpers in the mountains so I ordered all pro apex full aluminum bumpers front and rear
    20161105_172454.jpg

So now the moment you all have been waiting for the v8 swap

Tundra motor, trans, ecu and engine harness was all used.

I had to swap out the upper and lower oil pans along with the pick up tube to a 4runner rear sump (tundra and sequoia are front sump)

I also used the 2004 v8 4runner radiator (bolts straight to the tacoma) and the intake tube and air box off the 4runner

The tundra ecu is wired to the preexisting tacoma body harness

And motor mounts and cross members are custom 20170209_131448.jpg

I'll answer any questions about the build but as of now I'm tired lol

Great engine, I've had 4 in Tundras and a 4runner. Must be an awesome pull in a Taco, still have the 4.88 in?

The motor mounts and cross member went like this, I was considering the frame replacement when doing the swap so I wanted everything "factory" so that being said I left the original mounts on the frame alone and built the motor mounts to meet up in that location and the cross member we cut and moved it back 2 5/8 while retaining the factory location. The drive shaft in the rear is factory shaft shortened 2.5in and the front shaft is from a sequoia and it was shorten 2in the stock front shaft was too short.

I hope it stays that way!

I take it you're auto trans? Any chance to do this with a T56?
