Anyone install the 4.88 and add a front locker at the same time or afterwards? Wondering how many times u used the front locker?was it worth it? If had to do it over again would u just not installed it?

Good question. Im partial to if i open up the pumpkin i may as well do it.

That being said, i’ve been in some pretty hairy spots with my trucks (swamps, bogs, mud, water crossing, rocks, loose scree on steep grades, all over Western Africa, and many other places). and managed to get through without lockers. I recently installed a rear locker on the trd sport, I've used it 5 times to date. Glad i had it in thise spots as i had loose material and had to get up over a ledge. Id definitely do the rear again again, but im learning that a lot of people installed lockers to offset poor driver abilities that a limited slip can easily do.

With regards to the front, well thats a tough one. Rear is not a must but it is beneficial and helps a lot, most dont take the trucks off FSR’s let alone the pavement. Front all depends on your driving plans, build or if you just want to be part of the cool club. It can also get you in trouble especially on off camber trails, nothing like being sucked down gradient on the trail because you forgot to disengage the lockers.

That probably doesnt help much, review your plans for the truck, then decide if it is a need or more of a want. Personally i’d probabbly avoid doing it if your not really wheeling the truck.

A bunch a cool stickers, a bada ass MetalMiller Tx Longhorns grill emblem painted Hemi Orange, JBA long tube headers with o2 sims, Diff breather mod, Red LED interior lights, Fancy head unit that plays ipod n movies, Also DIY install factory stuff like, factory cruise control, factory intermittent wipers, OME nitro struts with 886x springs and toy tec top plate, JBA high caster UCA's for better alignmnet and dey beefier too, Old Man Emu Dakar leaf springs in da rear with the gear, U bolt flipper, Ivan Stewart TRD rims with 33" K Bro 2's, some bad ass weather tech floor liners so I don't muck up my interior, an ATO shackle flipper for mo travel in da rear wit the gear, also super shiny Fox 2.0 shocks back there too, all sorts of steal armor for bouncing off of the rocks like demello sliders, AP front skid, trans skid, n transfer skid, demello gas tank skid, and a tough as nails ARB bumper with warn 8k winch, I'm sure there's more
My opinion, a winch is more useful than a front locker.

^^^^ This.... Having said that I had a front locker installed when my 4.88s were dropped in. I only did it because I got a deal too good to pass up, $2600 for gears and locker OTD. Without the 20% discount I would have skipped the locker. also keep in min that you will need additional hardware to make the locker work.... Air compressor, Compressor mount; maybe air hose kit and new guage? I installed the compressor and wired it in so it saved me some money, but its something to keep in mind.

    Couldnt agree more.

Sadly, I can count how many times i’ve used a winch on ine hand, most were to extact others. I look at it as more of an insurance policy. I rarely get stuck these days, odd as i usually out by myself. Most times when i am stuck, i have nothing stable to winch off of and end up having digging out the truck, now i have traction boards, so i envision never having to use thise either, seems to be my luck.

Now equipment failures, come talk to me. I have 7 watranty claims out from this last trip alone (my stuff fails and im not hard on gear, just bad luck) a rtt that developed stretch marks all iver the material and anstorage system that i paid for that was built very very poorly. Needless to say i returned both and they were by reputable companies (15-20yrs in business if not longer). I look at it as i am helping out everyone else by sucking up all the bad mojo .

    How you been man.

Tires got you thinking about a regear or you going 35s.

If you're going to regear that would be the time to do it. I would even if I didn't plan on using it that much.

It's nice backup although I believe it is easier to break shit if you're locked, I could be wrong though.

There's some good stuff in here.

Been good the MPG has been killing me. Just don't know if I should so send the money on the arb front locker. I read that thread I'm just throwing around the idea.
