Go and find a big spot of fresh snow as in a parking lot or open field, in 2wd or even 4wd,, without spinning your tires make an average turn or even a slight turn for a whole 360, then get out and look at the tracks left
by the tires; the front will have one set of tracks and the rear will show a
different set of tracks just inside the front tire tracks, no matter how the turn goes the rear tires travel a shorter distance, this is what causes binding as in 4wd the front tires must travel the same distance as the rear tires because they are locked together by the diff case.

that's the most simple way to explain it

This, .. and to add, often there are small differences in axle ratios in front vs rear axles. It varies, but for instance you can have a vehicle that has a 4;10 ratio up front, and a 4:11 in the rear. This is perfectly normal, and on hard dry surfaces the slight variance can be felt if in 4wd. Also, in 4wd the front is looking for max traction, to pull the truck while the rear is looking for max traction to push, and when you turn sharp, you can get the slightest bit of understeer as the rear sort of pushes the front straight while trying to turn.

The fact that your are in snow/ice/wet I wouldn't worry about it at all.

Is it normal to still have it jerk a little on snow? My Tahoe did not do this at all. I can feel my tires bite on dry pavement, sharp turns and I know this is normal, so that coupled with sharp turns, I just wanted to make sure its normal in snow/icy conditions

    Normal

Turning tightly on dry pavement in 4WD isn't a habit you want to get into either

nothing.... just telling someone who has 5 posts.

probably not a bad idea to bump it with places already getting snow. maybe someone will see and not have to make new thread.(not that it really matters or i care)

first and last time on dry pavement. I was turning into a driveway, dry this morning. Tonight trying to back into my driveway with a sharp turn and 2 inches of snow. What is a good suggestion for putting weight in the back?? I live in Co, and travel to the mtns all winter skiing. Roads can be steep and icy
