4 wheel drive light is blinking but, have no problem going in and out.

Ok, I have read the threads with people having trouble going in and out of 4 wheel drive. I have no problem.
I did notice that there are two lights. One over the other.
One comes on when it is engaged. The other I guess is a trouble light. It is the one blinking. I have gone under the truck looking but, have found nothing wrong.
I have a 2012 Tacoma with a V6.

 

Which one is blinking (green 4wd, amber 4LO, or red diff lock)?

 

Are you sure it is actually in 4X4? Take it somewhere that has poor traction and see if your front axle is getting power.

 

did not understand, it is always blinking when it is engaged? .. it supposed to blink while it is engaging, once locked should stay on. how do you engage your 4H? .. if trying to engage while the truck is stop it will blink and not engage properly, you can engage while the truck is moving slowly and turn the knob to 4H, it will engage smoothly and the light will stay on as it is on the fly (4L different story) not sure if this was your question lol ..

What is was is the diff lock was stuck on because of dirt built up around the switch.
