Also I may go to Overland Expo depending on work. Still deciding. Would be cool to see your rig in person.

Thanks man!

Yeah we need to meet up soon. I'm not sure if I'll go to Expo if I need to pay admission though- I'd almost rather spend the money on a nice trip somewhere...

@fishfinder and I went last year and only went to the expo one day. We spent the rest chilling in the forest.

Yeah it does. I've already missed a ton of trips I wanted to do. And the falcons lost the super bowl. Fml man. Struggling

Public accountants have no life during busy season (Winter). We just accept that fact when we accept the job. Weekends, midnights, we are working.

Unfortunately winter is my favorite season.

We shoot on Sony mirrorless (A7ii/A7Rii). Lens was a Zeiss 24-70 f/4 on the first shot, @247daryl shot the other one with a Sigma 70-200 f2.8

Bummer man. You need to make it out some time. I keep doing all these trips down past socal and missing you guys.

Nice man. That's a good focal range. I usually don't do anything that wide but it would be nice for landscapes and such.

Joined a few friends including @NoOneBetter @sytfu510 @SCSPerformance @247daryl @w3tw0rks @MJonaGS32 @mattshamah @tacomgee @FJallday for a short weekend trip to Black Rock Desert in Eastern Nevada that @jAndyMendo planned.

Rolled into camp way late on a Friday night, spent too much time at the campfire and having fun.

NoOneBetter's photo of me rolling out of bed pretty much sums up my morning. Yes, I know this is the incorrect way to climb down a ladder.

Hit some pavement, on our way to some trails
[IMG]

Some of the recent rains washed out a few of the trails. Stacked rocks to make it easier to climb.

Thanks NoOneBetter for taking this shot of the truck. Was a little stuffed.

After this, the trail was pretty slow-going. Mud was a bit thick....

We were running through a 30-40yd stretch of sticky mud and @FJallday who was the last one before me got stuck. After winching him back several times and using our Maxtrax unsuccessfully, he ended up burying his axle into the mud. Winching him back did not work, as he was on the verge of tipping every time I pulled back. Using his own winch was out of the question, as he pulled a little too much out of his winch line and it unspooled.
We ended up positioning @w3tw0rks above him to winch him forward, and me on the side to keep tension on his slider to keep him from tipping further. Then we all got stuck together
Every time we pulled up the Maxtrax, we literally had to dig them out of 6-7 inches of mud with shovels. And get our fingers in the grooves to wipe out the mud because it wouldn't just come out. Special thanks to @MJonaGS32 @jAndyMendo @SCSPerformance for assisting in the recovery. The last few hours were pretty exhausting. No pictures.

Finally made it back in to camp. Thanks @916TacoTruck for the surprise Pliny and @tacomgee for the awesome burger when we got back to camp.

Rigs looked a little worse for wear the following moning
[IMG]
^^By the way, that wasn’t the FJ that got stuck. He was exiled to the bottom of the hill…

Headed for home, but the trail wasn’t done with us yet. Hit a 300-yd section of mud and water. Decided to just run through it, was better than running back through the 6-hr recovery section from the night previous.

Saw tons of cool views
[IMG]

Trail still hasn’t done with us yet. Just as I called out on the radio that we’d made it to the main road, the main road decides it wants to go away.

After walking the washed out section, we decided that it was safe to pass if we stacked a few rocks. The road was washed out in another couple sections, but we passed through with no issues.

Steering wheel was shaking the entire drive down to Reno on account of all the mud in our wheels and suspension. Thank god for coin-op car washes…
[IMG]

All in all, I think I used my winch a good dozen times that trip. We made a few mistakes, but that's ultimately how we learn what not to do next time. I hear the Rubicon is going to be nice this year...j/k

Thanks @NoOneBetter for some of the photos, wouldn't be able to tell the complete story without your pics.

Good times for sure! The mud in my alternator is making my truck sound like I have a supercharger :annoyed:
