This. Use it for suckdown winch, and if you need a tug backwards.

He's trying to keep the overall weight of the truck to a minimum.

can you make the front winch on a receiver hitch and have a receiver on the back of your rig and do it that way?

It might be an option. I don't see why not, but I don't know if a 8k winch will fit under the spare tire though. I'll have to check.

That was the original plan actually. Then this U4 idea decided to show up.

I've never thought of considering unsprung weight on an offroad rig... haha The same rules apply I guess but when adding huge tires and heavy axles/housings I always thought unsprung weight thinking just goes out the window so to speak.

Hey I got to thinking...did you get front axle shafts and your Yukon hubs yet?

Seeing how this project isn't gonna be on the road for a while, if I make the UA can I borrow one of each for a spare?

If I end up using either I will replace with new after I warranty my stuff out. I don't think I will need either as I have Yukon chromo shafts and Yukon hardcore hubs, but still nice to have a spare if shit were to hit the fan.

Usually it does, but for more 'extreme' crawling and/or go fast, it'll make every bit of difference I'm sure.

I don't have either of them yet. Doubt you'd break them on 37"s, but it's always better to have and not need than to need and not have.

What are you running for ujoints? I have those Nitro 300Ms...

I am running spicer non-greasables :( No moneys for the bling ones. I am sure if I get picked we will have a prep weekend in our future!

And I am hoping not to be on 37's for the trip...one way or another. Maybe there will be a tire sponsor again this year, that would be sweet! Hey you have a set of 40's for 17's don't you ;)

I did find these on CL, just gotta find a buyer for my 37" KM2s first...

You know damn well if you want to build an u4 buggy the ability to use a rear mount winch is going to out weigh any negatives about putting it in (including weight and having to rebuild part of the bed cage to fit it).

    Soon...

Granted your bed is nowhere near stock. If I can mount a winch under the bed, I'm pretty sure you can fit a winch in there.
