Quit being a bitch and bust out the sawsall and your favorite ford tool. For 10,000 years man has been hitting shit with a hammer to make it work. Why fuck up a winning formula?

LOTS of wiring, dual battery setup, Solar charging system, with some random lights spread around here and there.
I would have to second @jberry813 on this one. It has been....if nothing else......a clean, long, build but build it the way you want use the tires you have instead of back pedaling and chop some shit up to make it work. Why use the stock lights when you know that you can just put some other aftermarket ones on. If you drive it on the road put some Rigid DOT's on it and be done....

Haha, it was mostly because the idea of cutting more off has always seemed like back pedaling. In my case. :anonymous:

I spent a good portion of the afternoon trying different things. I cranked the links as short as I could (albeit 1") and did some trimming and it doesn't seem as bad as I thought. I can't shorten the links since the bungs are fully welded in.

Easiest way to make it work would be to cut off the main link crossmember and reweld it 1" - 1.5" back. Which should work really well in my favor because when I installed it (one of the first parts of the SAS project), the crossmember was positioned with the drivetrain mounted 4" back. When I rebuilt my motor mounts, I moved the drivetrain back another 2", so the position is now off a little. Workable, but off. Secondly, I cut my rear links shorter than I should have, and there is too much thread exposed. So moving the crossmember rearward should even everything out again and give me some room to fit the 40"s.

Keep in mind another reason I thought I should make the move to 37"s was because U4 mod stock specs require no larger than 37". I had been on the fence about dropping the 40"s for quite some time because of that, but at the same time... the likelihood of actually ever doing anything U4? I haven't the foggiest idea. :anonymous:

And the unscheduled cutting commences. :anonymous: I have to move the frame end panhard bracket as well, kinda have to since it was too wide, IMO.

    Success... ish.

I moved the crossmember back 1 3/8" and that seemed to do the trick. Today I cut off the old frame end panhard bracket and made a new one. It's a bit narrower and lighter than the original. I'll get pics when I get it fully welded onto the frame.

With the crossmember moved back and the links as short as they will go, I have ~1" of clearance so I'll move it forward as far as I can.

But I was able to fully flex it out. Glad I went with the 14" shocks because this is plenty, IMO. With the rear tires still on the ground, the lowest part of the front passenger tire is 43" from the ground.
