That's actually not bad, I want it but now that I think about it he probably doesn't want to part out, all I want is the Hobart itself.

I'd prefer not to part out. I need to sell it all at once so I have the cash ready for the TIG, otherwise I'm likely welder-less until it's all sold.

On the hunt for a different seat setup.

Due to the difficulty of getting exact measurements, I had to tackle seat mounting when I got to that point and work with it as best I could.

The layout of the drivetrain and limited height of the Tacoma cab has made it a challenge to meet the minimum requirement of 3" between cage and helmet. I added Chassis Unlimited seat sliders to the Baja XP seat and offset them in a way that I could mount the seat as low as physically possible without being an issue for the transfer case.

While relocating the diagonal roof braces was initially an option, it seems neither feasible (cab is already welded to the boat sides, rear, and A pillars [however... nothing an angle grinder can't fix. :luvya:]) nor prudent considering it wouldn't be as structurally sound.

My best bet right now is to find a seat with a lower profile and perhaps with a reclining option.

According to Corbeau's site, the Baja XP that I currently have has a base height of 5"

Here's some candidates that might work as a possible replacement

Baja XRS - Base height of 3.5"
    http://corbeau.com/catalog/product/view/id/32/category/51/

    A4 - Base height of 3.5"
    http://corbeau.com/a4.html

    CR1 - Base height of 4"
    http://corbeau.com/cr1.html

** The A4 and CR1 have a 'shaved base' option (additional $100) that will lower the ride height an additional 1".

    Which seats?
The Baja XPs are $300 each, the rest are $400-500 each. They all sound expensive to me haha :anonymous:

That was the sarcasm lol. I say what that guy on pirate says. Cut out the drivetrain and shift it out of the way. Follow the theme of the build!

Decided I'm going to run with the seat I have for the time being and I'll replace the seat(s) after most of the truck is completed. As of now, it looks like the A4 is the best bet with a shaved base and should reduce the height to half of what I have now in addition to being able to slide back and down farther.

If it's still causing issues, I'll carefully cut a section of the roof out and redo the diagonal roof braces.

I bought this TIG welder last week, but it's supposed to be 3-5 weeks for shipping. I needed time to study TIG techniques anyway.

Holding off on the floor work until the TIG gets here. Planning on using it primarily for aluminum work, including overflow reservoirs, hose fittings, dash panel components, and modifications to the radiator.

Monte convinced me to keep the MIG setup though. :anonymous:

Been working on other small details while I've been waiting for the TIG welder.

This was my original panhard bracket

I moved the axle back so I had to relocate the panhard and needed a slimmer, lower profile mount anyway as to not hinder steering and/or up travel. New one is smaller, lighted and hopefully as strong. :anonymous:

FINALLY finished up the removable bedsides and mounting tabs.

[IMG]DSC09963 by Jonathan K, on Flickr

It was recommended that I add some bracing for the rear shock mounts. The other side of the mount will be tied in with the mount for bypasses.

    Added more speed holes

TIG is pretty straightforward, just takes practice.
MIG is great for GP work, it has the strength and it's fast.
