Hey man, was reading up on some 3RZ builds tonight and apparently there is an oil pressure issue at higher RPM's. Its late and I'm not going to read too much into it but apparently it has something to do with balancing shafts. LCE makes a delete kit for this:

    http://www.lceperformance.com/Balance-Shaft-Removal-Kit-3RZ-p/1015050.htm

I don't know if that's advisable. To be honest, I would probably just shim my oil relief valve spring to get more oil pressure but might be something to look into as you build your block.

He already addressed this. Didn't use the kit, but made his own.

A few updates. Obviously I didn't get it done in the 2 weeks like I was hoping. I was well on my way, but I'll leave it at "circumstances beyond my control".:frusty:

Finished patching all the rust. The bed had more than what initially appeared but still nowhere as bad as the original bed. To ensure that I don't have to deal with rust again hopefully ever in my lifetime, I completely stripped, cleaned, primed, and bed lined the entire underside of the cab and bed.

In critical areas that are most likely prone to rust (usually along seams or where dirt/salt/etc accumulate), I used Raptor Liner. Since it's kind of expensive, I tried to stretch the dollar by covering the non-critical areas with Rustoleum bed liner. I used one bottle of Raptor liner and 1.5 gallons of the Rustoleum. I did essentially the same thing inside the cab, using an entire bottle of Raptor (concentrated more towards the front floorboards) and finished up with Rustoleum. When I emptied a bottle of Raptor, I refilled it with Rustoleum so I could use the u-pol spray gun and get a similar texture.

I also picked up my short block from the shop today. Not only were the rings bad, but they had wallowed out the grooves on the pistons so those had to be replaced as well. $250 in parts from LCE (rings/pistons 0.020" over)... block and crank cleaned, new freeze plugs installed, and bore/hone was another $525. Ouch. :(

Nice. Looks good! How did you like the raptor? I have a kit to spray Igors bed. Would like to do franks bed too and am considering restraint Frank completely with it using the tintable kind

I really like it. Good, consistent texture, super easy to use. I have the tintable kit ready to go for the bed. I'm going with a tan color to match with the interior and so it doesn't get stupid hot in the sun.

Sweet. Be curious to see how you think of the tint. I've read it tends to be a touch lighter then the original color. But the photos I have seen look promising.

The company i work for will build any size custom steel wheel with any offset. Not DOT approved and are for ag-related use but if we can build a 54" wheel for a sprayer that can do 40 i think you will be okay.

    Wut?

Adding 3/4" to the sides and top of the 1975 tailgate, then relocating the latches.
