Yeah I've been reading up on that stuff, seems easier than I was expecting.

The axle there was more of a reference so I could figure out the frame placement. I forgot I didn't have any joints for the lower links so I just ordered up some Barnes Enduro joints as well as Ballistic Fab high steer arms.

I picked up 2.5" x 216" of 1/4" plate for 30 bucks so I'm gonna try making my own link/shock brackets for the most part.

Pretty sure it wouldn't fit, unless there's some way to manage getting around the tranny. I moved the engine back only 3-4". Honestly, I don't think I've seen/read any builds that were 4-link up front.

I know the general rule of thumb for a 3-link setup requires that the vertical separation at the axle be 25% of the tire diameter, does this not apply to 4-links?

Similar to a bent panhard, could you run a bushing on the frame end, heim on the axle end, and have a slight bend in both of the upper links to get around the tranny? DAMMIT MARK! You're distracting me. :anonymous:

Looking at it yet again, straight upper links would probably clear it if I set the mounts inside the frame (french them in?).

    Pink taco on pirate. :D

And think of it this way, now instead of one (upper) link being there for anti-rotation, there's two. This allows for you to "cheat" on things a bit if you know what I mean.

    EDIT: http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/toyota-tacoma/544702-thepinktacos-sac.html

4 link in a 95 stock motor location

Yikes. That whole build thread kinda hurts to look at haha

I guess I was only thinking about a fully triangulated setup. He has the bushings on the axle end?? Wouldn't that bind with flexing/articulation?

Just showing it can be done. Hey I will call you back after work.

You can get them triangulated a little bit. The more the better. Hell my lowers only taper about 6" over their length. When we cycled it last time we really couldn't believe how clean the travel is too. I am only getting like 2° of caster change through 20"+ (no shocks)

He doesn't have much travel, lol. You can work around that with a nice bellcrank system like Jesse Haines did on his last KOH rig

 talk about "built not bought"... What do you have in mind for the turbo? Buying a whole charger kit or are you piecing one together yourself? I've been tossing around the idea of building one myself but I have no idea what it involves...

That was gonna be my next question. From what little I can find, seems most people only recommend 4-link if you have full hydro? (which I won't)

I'll probably go with this kit

    http://www.lceperformance.com/Street-Turbo-Kit-High-Boost-3RZ-p/1071030.htm

Monte will lead me by the hand through the rest of it.:D

Still... its not ideal. At all.

Yep. Bellcrank would work. haha
Yeah, full hydro or a bellcrank set-up like Mark mentioned.

We kinda sorta had this exact discussion in the SAS thread 6 months ago.... haha :D http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/so...solid-axle-swap-bs-thread-79.html#post6396163

The name alone makes it sound confusing enough haha

I shall press on with the 3-link.

Oh yeah.... dear Santa, please send me a plasma cutter. Yesterday. Please and thank you.

It's still on jack stands, how's that for an update?:D

Monte, define 'progress'. Is this what you had in mind? haha

But in all srsly, I haven't updated because I wanted to clean up/organize the build thread. Haven't been on TW much because the less I'm here, the more I'm in the garage haha

The front portion of the frame is pretty much done. I'm still waiting on the stupid high steer arms from Ballistic Fab before I mount up the panhard bracket and steering box.

Motor mounts are nearly complete, I just have to reinforce it. Engine was moved 4 inches back.

The hole in the passenger side floorboard is to clear the upper link and exhaust. Debating on if I should cut the whole damn floor out and work with a blank slate haha

Amazingly I finished the rear axle truss today. The open areas on the ends is supposed to be integrated shock mounts, but I'm not drilling holes until I have shocks.
