IIRC you can buy a kit that has a little cubby that fills in the spot under the new head unit.

Yeah, get a dash install kit and I would also recommend getting a wire harness to make the install clean and easy. Dash install kits are around $20 and wire harnesses are around $10

    Sweet truck!

Go to crutchfield.com and they sell the trim and cubby for cheap.

Also the wiring harness to match your Tacoma.

Got some pictures I should have taken awhile ago.

The Uniden 510 was mounted in the ashtray location. I simply trimmed the mount for the ashtray and screwed the stock CB mount from the backside to the remaining plastic. Won't budge.

Also, I know a lot of people use clips/mounts for their maglites but I keep mine here and it hasn't fallen out and has never moved or slid out of place, even on the trails.

On another note... if anyone is thinking about what watch to get, I highly recommend the Casio G-Shock series. I accidentally ran squarely over mine with the taco the other day. Don't ask. :anonymous:
Luckily the only damage was a small abrasion. Love this watch! :D

I thought I lost my Tag Hauer years ago... in fact I thought a "friend" stole it when we were doing the rear main seal on my Bronco.

Turns out he just knocked it off the bench into a bucket of used oil.

2 years later when he emptied the bucket at an auto parts store, my Tag got caught up in the screen filter.

He returned it to me.... still ticking and dead balls accurate.

Can wait to see what it looks like installed (hint: pics)

And I want to hear your opinion on functionality, bluetooth quality, iPod controls, etc...

    Thanks

Already have it installed and tested out.:D

This thing is great! Sound quality is noticeably better, and the Bluetooth sounds clear as well.
There are 2 USB ports, one is attached via cable in the back which we dropped into the glove box. I don't have an ipod, but we were able to access my Subsonic account though my phone and listen to the playlists from there and cycle through them via Bluetooth/phone or manually.
The clock auto syncs as well.

Already well worth the money, IMO.

Excuse the crappy cell pics and Wyoming dust. :anonymous:

    Nice.

Did you phone sync up just fine to the bluetooth?

One more question about the stereo... When your phone is sync'd up to it and it rings... Do you hear the ringer through the speakers?

Silly question but I've missed so many important phone calls cause I can't hear the ringer over the road noise or music.

    Thanks

Yeah the music cuts out, the display changes color and shows the name of the caller while the phone rings through the speakers.

Jonathan, that's a cbi tire carrier correct? Do you have a couple pics of how the tire is secured?

Also if you wanted to could you mount it under instead of on top?

I don't have any pics at the moment and it's raining right now, but I could take some in the morning if you'd like.
There's a small crossmember in the middle and a section of 1"(?) diameter bolt held in place by a nut on top & bottom. There's a Y handle and centering disk for the tire. The bolt also has a hole drilled for a padlock.
I don't see why you couldn't mount the tire underneath but I would assume (as with any tire carriers like this), mounting the tire underneath would be a physically difficult/awkward task.
