I only had a 2 pole switch which did not work. It wouldn't even work with just the wire cut. No abs light came on

If you don't draw blood, you're doing it wrong!
Well, I can't say for certain, but the caveman mod specifically calls for a grounded 3-pole switch. I would try that...

and last, ground the last outer pole of the switch."

i have a 2011 trd sport dcsb 4x4. i did the yellow wire mod. when in 4lo, do i need to hold the button with the squiggly lines(VSC button?) for a few seconds till the VSC off light turns on for the YWM to work? or should the YWM work once engaged in 4lo without pressing any buttons?

Bed rug, ARE bed top, Weathertechs. Little goodies here and there!
Yeasterday, on the interstate, we encountered a 20 car pile-up due to a sudden change to ice on the roadway. If it wasn't for the ABS, it would've been 21. ABS worked as it should've, kept me straight and stopped just in time.
    Just sayin...

I'm glad you and everyone you were with are safe and sound! Sounds like a close call. I will still be disabling mine in snow and in certian scenarios off pavement. There is a time and place for ABS, I prefer to have the option. Happy holidays!

I did the ABS kill switch today. Thanks OP for making this so simple.

I went a different route with the switch mounting. I used the blank itself to mount the switch.

First, I drilled a 1/2" hole in the blank.
    C93B2DE1-D588-4B9E-A0A8-355CA9C07566_zps_5152d22f479624151f1b0c40ffe706189a6ee29e.jpg

Then, I put the switch through the hole. I realized that the retaining nut wouldn't fit down inside the blank and thread onto the switch. So, as you can see, I trimmed the sides of the blank out so the nut would fit.

Rocker installed into the blank. Beside an un-cut blank

Installed between the fog light and inverter buttons

Not as sleek as those custom rockers, but I had everything on hand and wanted to get it done today.

I think I like it. I'm going to replace those red toggle covers in the fuse panel cover with black ones. I might do the same thing, toggle with black cover, for the ABS switch as well. I don't know. We'll see.

I put a covered toggle in the blank for the ABS kill tonight. I think the other switch looked boxy and strange. I like this better. Plus, it'll keep the ABS from getting switched off inadvertently.

I also replaced the red covers in the fuse door with black. Looks a little les Fast and the Furious now IMO.

I just bought a 2015 TRD sport and I plan to do the yellow wire mod.. I'm just wondering what the abs mod is all about. What situation would I not want my abs working. I drive in New England on snow covered roads and see the value of abs in those situations.

I have driven vehicles without abs when I was younger and I did enjoy the fact that I could play harder with my cars. But I'm 40 years old and have more interest in safety than playing.

Please educate me as to what situations would be bennificial to not having abs. I'm open to suggestions.

for anyone who has done this mod, when you cut the wire did the ABS light come on just with the wire cut? or would it not come on until the wires were connected to a grounded switch?

I didn't power up until everything was connected so I really can't answer.

The purpose of the switch is to "cut" the wire, not ground it. So if you just cut it and left it the light WOULD come on. (and ABS would be off)

If you ground the wire I think you're going to blow a fuse... You're not changing the circuitry with this modification, you're just breaking (ABS off) or completing (ABS on) the connection.

    Did anything else occur?

Sounds like you may have cut the wrong wire. Pictures would help us.

Strange. What you're describing is correct per the how-to's. I did mine exactly as shown in this thread (SPST switch, wire under drivers foot well). The "caveman" method appears a little different and I dont have any experience, but seems straight forward.

Have you seen anyone with an 08' confirm the wiring is the same? Wasn't looking for other years when I did my read through's.

This thread, which is what my comment about cut=light on was referring to:
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/4lo-trac-abs-kill-switch-why-why-not.257444/

    and

    Slightly different:
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...n-can-do-it-abs-disable-mod-with-pics.217337/

(in reading the "caveman" write up, I'm not sure grounding the switch does anything. He's used a DPST switch which grounds the wire when "off" but doesnt appear necessary. Though again, I dont have hands-on with this way)

I haven't seen anyone with an 08 do this. I wouldn't imagine this is the only year in which the truck was wired differently than every other year but it's possible I guess

The funny things is even with both wires cut and my truck did not act differently in any way. It was like I never cut 2 different wires. Everything worked, no dash lights or codes.
