Make sure that 4HI has engaged (4X dash light ON) and then come to stop. Put the tranny in neutral and rotate switch to 4LO. It should engage then!

    ^^^^^^^ EXACTLY.....

I was in Flagstaff last week in a blizzard and couldn't get into 4WD Lo. In addition I had beeping sound going on. I knew that it was a Toyota and would work -- had I read the friggin' manual. I luckily was able to get out of the snow in 4WD Hi.

Now being in sunny 75 degree Tucson -- I read the manual and then checked it out. Worked like a champ.

Just make sure you are stopped and in neutral when you want to switch in. I've tried at 2-5mph and it won't work.

Thanks guys, I think it's going to see the dealer, I tried all your suggestions, but to no avail, I hear the relay for 4HI, but as soon as I try 4LO all I get is the beeping sound, what about RPM's ? idle or reving a little ?
