Does anyone else take these things off road?

I have a set of matte black ones and I swear they are the hardest things to get clean again.

Any tips on how to keep these clean? The dust just seems to cling forever, was at a friends details shop and we scrubbed for days, but still look dusty.

Never had this issue with other matte black rims, but yes I know that "black" will show more.

I've found that SVRT from Adam's Polishes works wonders. It comes clean easier the next time you get it dirty. I will clean the wheels and tires, put my tire shine on and then wipe the wheels down with SVRT.

Lol VRT is not for metal, only for rubber and plastic. No professional detailer will ever put a rubber dressing on wheels, it looks like crap and is all oily. By all means do it to your rig but I'll be damned if that stuff was liberally applied to my wheels. It'll turn your matte wheels shiny.

I'm actually interested in this thread as I just bought and installed some myself. A lot of people running them be interested in what they use to clean them.

I use sonax wheel cleaner plus on my h3 black wheels, works great. You could always use a polish after.

Use a heavy duty wheel cleaner like this

    Griot's Garage 11026SP Heavy-Duty Wheel Cleaner - 35 oz.

Then follow with a wheel protectant like this

    https://www.ammonyc.com/shop/gelee-wheel-protectant/

OR this, but preferably the one above

Smartwax 10100 Rim Wax Ultimate Shine and Protection - 8 oz.

I have the Grey trd pro wheels and use soap and water to clean them. Then I apply lucas slick mist on the tires and wipe the overspray off the wheels with a rag. It gets the remaining brake dust and dirt. Works well.

That's a spray sealant so that's good to help protect the wheels after they've already been cleaned

OP should really look around the detailing forum....

I use the chemical guys spray on these wheels and works well. No shine just wipes away the hard water marks.

I spray on simple green first then wash the wheel with normal car wash. Takes everything off that I have thrown at it so far, and the mud here in NC is fairly nasty when it wants to be. I would think that dust should be fairly easy to deal with compared to mud. :notsure:

    Good luck!!

dont get hopes up to high for Chemical guys. They have maybe 3-4 products that are pretty decent. the rest are basically on par with junk you can buy over the counter.
if you want something that will last a good while. get some Sonax Polymer net shield and apply that

Does anyone know what to use for touch up paint if you get a small nick in the matte black rims?
