That's what I was thinking about doing today but just didn't do it. Any issues this will cause or has anyone had issues?

    Return them.
Get some blemished SCS wheels for a little more.

I don't mean this to be snarky, but... maybe go somewhere else?

I use a set of trail 4Runner wheels in the summer. The dealership installed them for me the first time, they had zero issues, even complemented my truck when they were done.

I’ve had issues with discount tire being shady in the past.

Trade your truck for a 4-Runner.

Ditto, more or less. I went to Big O because they had a good price on my tires, and they installed my wheels (same as OP) with no complaint or issue. Had 'em for a couple years now with no problems.

Although, if a mechanic tells me he isn't capable of doing something, I wouldn't force the issue. I'd totally take them at their word and go to someone with more skill.

Discount Tire did mine and they are perfect. No questions asked. Been going to them for at least 20 years for many different vehicles.

I'd go somewhere else to get them mounted and installed. I just put some my truck today and no issues getting them installed.

Odd. I took my Pro SEMA TRD wheels to Discount Tire and they didn't have any issue installing them, they did a great job aside from dropping a lug on my OEM OR wheels which chipped one spot, luckily it was small and the new owner didn't mind. The assistant manager was actually excited when he saw them and we spoke about tire options he definitely seemed into truck modifications.

Maybe its location dependent or it depends on the tech. You could always try another tire shop and see if they give you the same response. With so many of these Pro SEMA wheels being installed on Tacoma's I don't think there is a major issue. I've seen a couple Tacoma's here in my city with them installed but most Tacoma's either stay stock or go after market.

They fit fine. Find a new tire shop.

Perhaps the hub bore in that batch of wheels was machined to the low end of the tolerance and is making for a more snug than usual fit. I would test fit the wheels in my garage and see if DTC is full of shizz or if the rims really are tight. If tight, wouldn't be too hard to open them up a smidge with a drill motor and a flapper type sanding wheel. We're only talking a few thousandths of an inch.

Anecdotally, I've rotated my own tires several times and have never had any issues with the fit of the T4R rims to the hub.

Check for corrosion or burrs on those wheels, might just need a light sanding. Sometimes proper wheels are tight.

Could be tolerance stacking. Wheels at the minimum opening and the hub at the max. As already noted, many people fit these on their Tacos without issue. I'd rather they be a tad tight than lose. I'd think a few minutes with some 100 grit emery paper on the ID of the wheel would allow a fit, but can understand why a tire shop would bulk at that.

Bringing this back to life again. It I was super disappointed this morning. First in line at 7am to get my matte gray trd pro wheels installed. They were afraid to do it. To right and afraid to damage them. My truck is 2018 sport. Not 4wd. But it’s a 6 lug truck. Is this the common issue here? Maybe a dealership will do it. Surely all these trucks on here I’ve seen and wanted to copy are not all 4wd.
