If they had any brains at all, they'd model the next gen tundra after the tacoma/4Runner. Imagine a 3rd gen taco, scaled up to full size dimensions, with a v8. I'd buy one today!

I don't understand the hunger for bigger and bigger bodies. Big American pickups are almost comically huge now and I do not see the appeal - but obviously that's what the market wants.

Its kind of required to have a roomy cab and usable box. The taco starts to feel like a Corolla really quick. Especially with 4 adults.

Agreed.....the Gen 3 didnt get most of the bugs worked out till at least 2018. Not going to be the first buyer on a Gen 4 that will almost certainly have problems.

The multi year delay on the Tundra.... hopefully it doesn’t disappoint too much...

Think they normally announce Tacoma or Tundra at an Auto Show Jan-March. Obviously this year will be different.

doesn't look very attractive, but will try to reserve judgment.

Toyota had a tough act to follow with the existing tacoma and tundra. IMO these two trucks are the classiest looking right now.

Yeah, that front end looks over the top to me but I will reserve judgement until I see it.

Not really digging what Toyota has done recently with just about every other vehicle except the Tacoma. The Highlander is atrocious imo. Kind of tired of the moon rover utility styling.

Keep close eye on the upcoming Tundra . This will give you a good idea of the direction they are heading.

Ie twin turbo or pack in an electric motor.
Manual should be dropped too Id bet

This is incorrect. The Rav 4 has never been a 10 year cycle. Taco yes, Rav 4 no.Screenshot_20201123-133255_Chrome.jpg

You'll probably see a new Colorado/Canyon first since that came out in 2015.

Give me more leg room in the back and a twin turbo and I'm a buyer.

    Nope. I dont buy it.

And even if it were true, post COVID I can only see this being delayed at least one year, making it more in line with what will actually happen for a fall 2025 launch for 2026.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Long. Generations. Are. Good. For. All. Keeps everyone's resale values up, keeps longevity and reliability, etc. Toyota is smart enough to know this and keeps vehicle generations for ~10 years, hell the tundra is basically a dinosaur and is finally getting revamped for 2022. You're not going to see a new taco until 2025 at the earliest, just how it is.

I’d agree but their seems to be some major incentives for Toyota to move all body on frame vehicles to this new platform.

Also, let’s be honest - the 3rd gen Tacoma is really a 15-16 year old design with some changes. Many cosmetic.

I recall reading something a few years ago that said they delayed the next Generation 4R because sales were so good, no reason to rush a redesign if what you have is working.
