    Since Toyota decided to make the 4wd control the same size and shape as the HVAC controls (and same location) has anyone changed the knob to differentiate it from the nearly identical other controls?

    No, but a few times I started to put it in 4hi, instead of adjusting the fan speed. I realize I’m fucking up when the knob doesn’t click at the 1/4 turn.

    The trick is to just pull the knob off until you need it. Can't accidentally turn a knob that isn't there.

    The fix for this is to adapt to your new hardware.

    If I didn't have a mechanical case, I'd probably think about these;

    Haven't changed the knob, but it's easy to see and know what knob is correct as it's not directly next to the temperature/fan controls

    In my truck it’s next to the HVAC controls.

    It is, but also not hard to differentiate from the other knobs as it's right next to the push to start button and the Hvac controls are all relatively close together

    I swear between this thread and the Tacoma wave and the freakin air horn thread...were in a perpetual state of Groundhog Day. I’m not disappointed. I’m just getting better at these threads.

    They do make covers for the knobs if you want them. Not sure of the link, but people in the "What have you done" thread have put them on

    I guess so.
    Maybe I just haven’t had my truck long enough.
    On the other hand maybe putting it next to the HVAC controls isn’t a great idea.

    You're not alone dude, it's absolutely insane that Toyota's UI team put all of those controls next to each other in the same format like that. I push my 4x4 knob all the time to start my truck. Not even ashamed of it, it's a UI problem.
