4x4 Conversion Questions

hey guys I've been trying to do some research on 4x4 conversions but I am still left confused.

I got the list of parts needed but I'm not sure what part numbers to be looking for or what is COMPATIBLE with an 01 tacoma. For example, will a 4x4 auto transmission from a 1998 tacoma fit in a 2001? I dont know if there is different wiring or placements on the transmission...

Yes, that trans will work but you have to swap over the park/neutral safety switch from your 01 trans. The connectors are different. I have a 1999 4 runner trans in my 02 tacoma after my swap. You can get a push button transfer case to work as well without all the other stuff.
