I am looking for some guidance on how to troubleshoot my Tacoma 2013 4 by 4. The lite started flashing when I turned off the 4 wheel drive. Need advice on where and how to find the sensors.
    Thanks in advance

Start by buying/borrowing a scan tool. If the light is flashing and 4x4 is not engaging, then there should be a code(s) in the 4WD module. Those will give you a starting point.

    OP,
How would you describe you skill set? A place to work or would you likely to take to a shop?

I will do as much myself as possible. I replaced the starter last year.

To start simple, make sure you are rolling forward or reverse when switching back out of 4Hi. Also turning the wheel slightly left or right can help things line up and shift.

If that doesnt work then it may very well be an actuator issue. One on the transfer case and one on the passenger side of the front diff, the A.D.D. Can you tell if the truck is physically still in 4x4? Do the wheels bind if you try to make a sharp turn?

Take a read through here, there are a few diagrams and tips relating to the front ADD unit. You can at least start to understand how the system works
