That is really nice looking. Do the cup holder LEDs dim with the factory dimmer switch?

They look much brighter in the pictures than they really are in person.

Nice write up! Just got done installing the light for the 4 x 4 switch. Plan on doing the cupholder lights another time. Thinking about mounting them in a different spot however. The only problem I had is the wires were reversed for the 4 x 4 light board. I swapped them and it works perfectly! :woot:

BTW... Orange bulbs are not an option on the web site for the led bulbs. So just wondering if you actually bought red? Maybe. Or did they discontinue orange?

They sell them as "amber" but they are similar amber/orange to our Tacoma's that came with the amber interior lights.

Just completed the cupholder light mod! As I stated I wanted to do it a little bit different. I wanted to light up the compartment behind the cupholder as well as the switches and power outlets. The Amber LED's on osmium.com are definitely not an exact match. However I am happy with the results! You can also see the 4 x 4 light in all it's glory! :amen:image.jpg image.jpg

To bad the 1st gen doesn't have the same wires. Might have to look into this.

I did buy orange, but I am not seeing them on that site anymore. I guess they did discontinue them. maybe amber should be close?

Try superbrightleds.com and look for LEDs with a wavelength between 605nm and 615nm for orange. For Amber which is more yellow, look for a wavelength between 595nm and 605nm. They have the specs for most of the products they sell on the same page as the product itself.

I emailed oznium and they told me it would require an order of "a few hundred" to get orange.

I guess such is big business... Damn the little man!:frusty:

If you go to osmium.com and look at the specs for the bulbs netmonkey is using it shows...

    Amber 605 - 610
    Red 620 - 625

So maybe the "orange" that we need is 615. I've searched the web for prewired Orange LED bulbs. I have had no luck. And I do like the bulbs that netmonkey suggested using because they are 4 Chip. The way I have mine set up the 4 chip give out a wide glow.

I have also posted in rcbs204 thread and inquired about the LED bulbs he uses in the 4 x 4 switch. He says he uses 605 wavelength LEDs with clear lenses . Which totally adds to my confusion/frustration

Bottom line is… Toyota has made a color that is nearly impossible to duplicate :annoyed:

Pep Boys has some LED strips that are definitely, without a doubt, orange. They even have a test button on the package so you can sse what color they really are before you rip the package open. Other auto parts stores may have them as well.

Autolumination.com has a huge selection of LEDs to choose from too. I gave some LEDs away over a year ago because they were too orange. They probably were not in the package style you want but they were orange.
