Well turns out the silver I used on the hub dial was bad, so I'm having to strip them down and re-do it. Luckily I only did one of them. I was able to make some more progress tonight. I have gotten the axle wire-brushed down pretty good. I'm not too worried about it until it has everything welded to it. Then I will get it nice and clean before painting.

I got the other lockout hub body/face painted tonight, along with the wheel hub. Everything is coming along nicely. The gears/lockers should be done wednesday/thursday. I got the call today that my coilovers were here, so I will go pick them up thursday. The steering shaft joints and chromo hub gears should be here first of next week. I can't wait to get this thing under the knife :D

OCD kicked in... I had the urge to paint the hub bolts for the rotors

Been a very productive last couple days. Thursday I went to Carolina Truggies and picked up my coilovers. I can't say enough about the guys there. Alex and Josh were awesome to deal with and were able to give me some pointers/suggestions on my setup. I will be going back to them when it comes time to re-do the rear setup. I also got my brake issues worked out. After having to order 5 rotors, I finally got two that were right (boxed wrong) I kept getting the 81+ rotor style. They are 79 FJ40 rotors = vented

I also got my third back from Chance at Overdrive Rebuilds. 4cyl third with 4.56's, new bearings and Spartan locker. He's setup gears for me before, along with some of my buddies. Great guy to deal with and does top notch work!

I got the hub dials re-painted. They turned out pretty good. Now I'm just waiting on my chromo hub gears to come in so I have get them put back together.I got the third in the housing, short shaft up in and after getting the trunion bearings in place I got the six shooters installed. Everything was money! I couldn't have gotten it any better only to find out I forgot to put the felt/seals on the back of the knuckle, so I had to tear it all back apart.

Tonight I got both side put together; trunion bearings in, FELT ON, knuckles on, greased up and torqued. I used PLENTY of grease on the birf's and inside the knuckles. This things coming together very nicely and I'm actually ahead of schedule. There a chance I could start cutting in as little as two weeks!

Hey, I see you put tape on the outside of the dial, but what about the inside of the outside face? I recently rebuilt/painted my AISIN hubs a few feeks ago and noticed that any amount of paint in an area that had sliding pieces, really had an effect on how smooth and easy it was to turn the dial after it was assembled again. I ended up having to strip and re-paint, putting tape over any surface that slid or moved against another surface. It was miles better. :) I hope the paint on the inside edge of your hub face didn't affect the operation to much.... Have you tested it yet?

Isn't re-building AISIN/ASCO lockouts so satisfying and fun?!?!?! :D lol

I'm keeping a spread sheet on it. I will post it when the swap is complete.

When I got through painting I took a razor blade and some fine sand paper to get all the excess paint off. I will be testing them out in the next couple days.

Yeah, it's a squirrel tail

Had a laid back weekend. It was me and my g/f's 5yr so I went up to Boone to see her. Got home around 6:30ish and was able to make some progress. I was going to put my hub dial/face back together since I got it painted. Well turns out the ball/spring some how magically disappeared from the zip lock baggy I had it in... So I order some new ones from WabFab, along with a new o-ring. So I jumped on the putting the spindle and other gaskets back on. I'm going to be taking it to my fab guy so he can cut off all the existing brackets and weld on the trus/diff cover. It will probably remain there until the swap starts. All I really have left to do to the axle is put the hub/rotors on, locking hubs and calipers and she's ready to role!

Well the time is getting near. I have done everything there is to do as far as the axle goes. All the big items have been bought and all the pain in the a$$ items have been acquired. The chromo hub gears and the steering joints came in today. I got the hubs put back together and ready to be installed. I am going to drop off the axle tomorrow so Damien can go ahead and get started cutting on it and putting on the diff guard and truss. I'm also going to go ahead and get the coil towers and link brackets ordered. Things should be ready to get started as soon as they show up :D

I totaled everything up that I have as of right now, plus what my labor and steel bill will be... I'm at $8,155.20. That's everything; labor, parts (down to the last nut and rattle can), and assuming I don't have anything else pop up once it gets started.

I'm dropping the truck off on the 19th to get it started, so we shall see what happens

Keep in mind I did a lot of trading/selling other toys to make this happen...

    ONE WEEK and counting... :D

My hub face bolt from WAB FAB showed up yesterday, all the brackets are getting ordered today as soon as I get out of class, and all I have left to do is order the U-bolt flip kit, shocks and a few other odds and ends for the rear lift setup. I'm trying to decide on 10in, 12in, or 14in travel shocks... I'm probably going to just have to wait till I get everything just the way I like it or try my best to guestimate.

I got the T100 oil pan swapped in this evening. Big thanks to my buddy Jay at 601 Performance for let me use the lift after hours! It wasn't too bad, just slow and steady...

Went ahead and ordered my U-bolt flip kit, leaf spring retainers, and a brake proportioning valve relocation kit from toytec. I'm going to hold off on getting the rear shocks. I'm going to see how the re-built leafs workout and take some measurements.
