Wrong, chevys add tons of flex, stability and can handle load really well. Not to mention they ride better than stock leafs. Not handling a load, they are 1/2 ton springs, we got 1/4 ton trucks

God truck nomenclature has gotten retarded these days hasn't it?

"1/2 ton" F-150s now sport payloads over 2000lbs. "1/4 ton" Tacomas have payloads in excess of 1300lbs.

Methinks the system needs revising to account for American vehicle bloat...

May be something to look into for the future. For now I'm going to play around with the stock springs and see what happens.

Damien's been busting it this weekend. He's making progress and I'm hoping the end is near :D

Thanks y'all, I appreciate it! He says it may be done end of the week, as long as nothing major pops up.

I spent the evening cleaning the aftermath of the axle re-build. I put everything/as much as possible back on new with the axle so all the old bolts/nuts, knuckle shims, etc... I'm putting into a recovery kit, along with 6 point sockets from 6mm-23mm, breakers bar, extensions, adapters for everything from 1/4-1/2, screw drivers, spare hub gears, and a few other odds and ends. Along with all that I have a spare set of axles to get me by until I can do Dirty 30's

Maybe in the future... but for now I'm messing with the stock leafs

I'm going by M.O.B.S. tomorrow to see how it's coming and to go ahead and finish assembling the axle. All I have left to do is pack the wheel bearings, tap in the outer seal and install the brakes. I will put the lockouts on when she's ready to go, which shouldn't be too much longer!

The more wore out the better :)

Plus they are weighted for chevys. Much heavier than our tacomas :D

Got done with class and came down to check out the progress. It looks amazing! Everything looks to be money. I got the wheel bearings packed and the rotor/hub put on and torqued to specs. Damien ran into on issue, he was worried about the shocks rubbing the frame because of how narrow the toyota axle is. So instead of just calling it good enough, he notched the frame, bent a piece of 3/16th steel to fit just right and then welded her back together. Test fit showed it to be perfect, leaving about 1/4in at full droop.

I really can't say enough about Damien and his work. This hasn't been the easiest project, but it's come out looking amazing. He's gone above and beyond when it's come to the design on the build. He's treated it like it was his own... He knows that I'm not going to be too hard on it, but he's made everything like it's for his crawler that he intends to put balls to the wall on every obstacle

Did you just straight bolt in a set of Chevy 1500 leafs or slip the Chevy leafs into your stock leaf pack?

The chevy leaf swap (very popular because of the awesome flex you get) requires you to cut off the front hangers and re weld them on a few inches forward because the leafs are longer.
