So, how do you get a lowered taco up to work on it.... Here's what I came up with:

    Step one: 7 Inch's

    IMG_5814.jpg

    Step Two: Another 7 Inch's to 14 Inch's

Harbor Freight - Daytona - Pro Eagle - Lift pad EXTBM

    Pro Eagle - Rubber pad

I really like the stance you got here. What size of tires are you running?

So, I have a 99 that I'm starting the research on lowering. But I'm also broke. Most of my money goes into my 4WD Tacoma. I do have new ball joints to install on the 5-lug, and will have the leaf springs off the 4WD soon so I can do the BJ flip, and leaf swap. How much will that lower the truck? I'm currently riding on 225/75r15 tires on Jeep TJ wheels, and have some rubbing issues. This means my first real purchase for this is a set of smaller tires, what size is recommended for keeping the 15" wheel? I later want to bump up to 17s and do a Tundra brake swap because I like to get a little festive on back roads and I want the security of stopping.

The ball joint and 4x4 leafs will be about a 3/ drop. For tires i run a 225/45/17 and no issues. For brakes the tundra bbk will not fit as for a 6 lug. Look up Mjbtaco on YouTube and you will find a great bbk for very affordable prices you can piece together.

The newer Tundras are 5 lug, but it might be a different pattern.

Would you rebuild this with parts from Rock Auto that are just replacements?

4x4 rear leaf swap is enough to just drop the rear 1"? I read somewhere on this forum that it will help to level out the truck to match the front stock height as well as help with preload if there's any weight in the bed.

    Can anyone confirm? Thanks!

The 4x4 leaf swap works by removing one of the leafs. This will net you about a 3"

So I’m lowering my Tacoma in a couple weeks. 97 ext cab rwd. As far as I know everything is stock suspension. I’ll just be installing lowering springs and blocks. 2/3 drop is what the kit says. I currently have 90s mustang cobra wheels and running 225/45/17 tires. a
For a drop like that am I going to have to get an alignment?
Also, can I run a 275 wide tire in the back? I really like the look of wider tires in the rear but i read somewhere of a certain size that will rub on the springs but I can’t find that thread.

After any suspension mod you should do an alignment..
And I would say yes you can fit 275 tires depending on the offset of the rims

Did a 3/4 drop on 245/45/17. Lowering springs in the front and 4 inch block in the back. I trimmed the rear bump stops but left the front ones alone. I installed new joints but didn’t do balljoint flip. After doing it, I realized I’d rather have 3inch block in the back (I use the bed often) so I ordered the 3inch belltech block to raise the back some more so that hopefully under load it won’t rub! I really don’t wanna mess with my fenders. I’m probably gonna change tires to 225/45/17.
