This is the answer. I have a matching spare with a TPMS sensor, but the sensor is inactive. When the time comes to rotate the 5 tires, the tire shop will reprogram the system so that the 4 active tires are recognized.

BTW, when this bitter cold weather hit, the tire pressures fell (below 28 psi) so that the dash warning light came on. I haven't gotten around to topping off the air in the tires (precisely because of the cold weather), so the warning is still on. If I top off the tires, when the weather warms up, I think I will have an overpressure problem.

Another solution is to just not have a TPMS sensor in the spare tire (even if it's a matching tire that will be used in a 5-tire rotation). When the time comes to do the rotation, after the tires are rotated you just press the reset button. The system will be fooled into thinking that the new spare (that has a TPMS sensor) is one of the active tires. It will now monitor the air in the spare, as well as 3 of the active tires. At least I think it would work that way.

I did, (the PVC TPMS Cask) couldn’t get it to trick the TPMS, now it sits in the garage and I have gotten used to the warning light.

Nope, these trucks will only see 4, not 5 sensors. These trucks will only use four, not five, separate sensor ID#s. And the TPMS button does not program the PCM. Try again.

Now hold on there Bronco Billy. As far as the $10 gauge reference i made i guess i should have clarified. The gauges i have were probably around $10-$15... but that was 40-50 years ago. Back then they were quality tools... same one's now days would be more. I've checked them against electronic gauges and they're spot on. Judging by the complaints people are having since tpms came out the pressure gauge is less complicated and more reliable.... and no batteries required! Just think what tpms will end up costing us in the same 40-50 year time frame.

For those wishing they had a sensor in the spare... my 07 came with 5. Every time it got cold enough the difference in psi between the heated up tires and the cold spare was enough to set the dash light off.... complete pita. Be careful what you wish for.

never been in a dollar store :rasta:
