Hate to beat the dead horse because this may have been discussed already. I can't find any answers specific to my question hopefully someone has done this. I'm Installing 5100's on my 2.7 Prerunner And will be adding about 120Lbs of weight to the front bumper. (Hidden winch mount and Smitty winch w/ synthetic line).
I wanna level out the truck by the end of this and don't want the added weight to increase the rake. I'm trying to keep it close to stock height so hoping for 1.5-2" of lift in the front. How would 885 springs stand up to this task compared to running stock springs? I would put the stock springs at 1.85 which would make the truck near level. But with the added weight I'm wondering if I'll be sagging again, plus loading the springs even more all the time. Might make for a shitty ride. But then again, stiff OME's with not enough to weight on them would make for a shitty ride too!

    OMEs aren't stiff.

I'd go with 885s and a top plate spacer if needed, or 887s.

Here's my 2.7 DCSB Prerunner with 885s.. (884s with 1/4" top plate spacer).

I'm avoiding using the spacer. Just want to know how 120lbs would effect the springs. The springs are advertised as 1.5". But I'm wondering if the added weight would lower that height. Maybe not because the engine is lighter?

you are correct. Although I would probably even go 884. We just put 885s on two v6 pre runners and they both got 2.5-3" of lift without spacers so you wouldn't be level you would have the "Bro lean". I

That's what I needed to hear. Thanks!
But I did notice on the site they state 884 is for Std & AC models. Is the spring any different, or is this just for purposes of weight? Has anyone had 884s on their DCSB?

884 and 885 spring rates are the same one is just longer than the other. Seeing has how you a 2.7 and a pre runner I think 884s can handle the extra 120lbs and still put you at level.

Dillon Beach in Bodega Bay, CA.

I think you'll be happy with 885s, just left the option for minor adjustments with the 884s like I did.

2.7 trucks respond differently than V6, especially Prerunners. I had about 2.5-2.75 in the front and 2.75 in the rear in that picture.

The pic is 884s with 1/4" top plate spacers.

Equivalent to an 885 with that setup, more adjustability.

The 884s were solo until I added the 1/4" spacers after setting to regain a little height.

Ok. With the taller springs, wouldnt extended shocks be needed to get the full travel out of the spring? Isn't there a regular 5100 and an extended length 5100?

That wouldn't set him level though. He would have a 2" rake. Or "bro lean" leveled up front is only 1" and with the added weight of a bumper and winch 884s would be perfect.

    For a stock rear, sure.

But fuck that. Lift is life.

Hopefully @HeadStrong Off-Road will chime in soon and correct me if I'm wrong. But that is the route I would take.

    5100 w/ 884s
