I had bought a set of Tacoma Sport springs from Craigslist to assemble my 5100's with. I couldn't tell which side was passenger and which side was driver. I pulled my struts and replaced them with the assembled struts with the Sport springs. Now I have 1 inch of difference between center of hub measurements from the passenger and driver side. Would getting those springs mixed up cause and inch of difference? Anything else to look for? I will not have to time to work on this for the next couple days but would really like some advice if anybody has any. Thank you.

What are the 2 colors on the springs on each side? As they are side specific.

Post some pics of the assembled shocks on each side. Did you also use the 1/4 lean spacer for the drivers side?

If the springs are not on the correct side then that will cause the issue you are having.

And if he added the 1/4 lean spacer will make it even worse

    +1

I have 5100's and had to use a 1/4 inch spacer on the driver side to compensate for the lean.

Pics of what colored dots are on what side will def help determine if you have them on the correct side.

From what I remember every year the colors changed. But I think the one with 2 different colors belongs on the Driver's side. And if that is where it is now then we know I'm wrong

    Says who?

I haven't seen anybody who knows what the dots mean, and 2 trucks that are identically configured can have completely different markings on the coils than the other.

Mine has white/brown and yellow/brown. To which side they do I have no clue. I had the same problem when installing mine.

I'll see what I can do about finding out which colors are on the springs as they are installed right now. I thought the 1/4 spacer was just if I was going to be using aftermarket springs. Thanks for all the responses.

I plan on switching those out next time I get a chance to see if that fixes it. Install wasn't really that hard. Took the sway bar out from under it and disconnected the lower ball joint. 1 inch just seemed to be a lot of difference.

My Sport one's that had 5100's on them that I just gave away had 2 blue dots on the one side and a blue and yellow on the other. The colors have changed quite a few times

My reading has said the drivers side is specific on OEM coils and spacer isn't needed because of that reason.

But, nobody that I have seen actually knows what the color markings mean and I'm starting to be more apt to think they're not anything to do with the side designations.

The dots on the coils for the 2014 and 2015 Tacomas are the same. When I installed my 5100's I forgot to mark which coil was the driver side and which coil was the passenger side. After a ton of research and checking with some friends of mine that own 2014 and 2015 Tacomas I was able to verify this.

I don't know what year the coils are from. I am putting them on my 2011 DCSB OR. The factory coils for mine are marked white/pink and white/orange. So the thing to do is just swap struts back over and see what happens?

Maybe your two trucks were the same, but that's otherwise not the case across the board.

Since you seem to know what the colors mean, share it with everybody else.

I've seen no less than 8 colors and more combinations of colors than I can remember.

Haha I just saw that after I posted. OP if you knew what year coils you have that may help.
