Alright looking for some input from those in the know. I would like to add a little height across the board for my truck with the Bilsteins 5100's. No more than an inch though, as I haul and tow fairly regularly and my budget doesn't allow for a lot more. Would love to do a 3 inch lift, but can't due to money reasons. My question is will the 5100's negatively affect my towing and hauling? I figure that inch with some new tires will help me get the look I want.

The 5100's should not negatively effect towing. I have 883's up front and an add a leaf in the rear which raises it ~1.5" or so with 5100's all around and the ride while towing is greatly improved.

The 5100s can be set to give you 0", .85", 1.75", or 2.5" of lift. You will need an AAL in back to increase the height. Doing 5100s and an AAL should slightly improve towing.

If you tow or haul add helwig helper springs to your rear leaf pack too. They've made a huge difference in the capability of my truck in addition to the 5100's.

Hmm.. Food for thought, won't do a block in the back and if I do AAL might as well save for a while down the road and get some uca's upfront w/ springs and AAL's in back. Maybe just the tires for now and see how I like that. Thanks all for some reason I thought the 5100 would give me a slight lift even in the back. Guess not. Thanks again.

Nice truck, this setup would be fine towing and hauling too right? My big points are cost, reliability, and maintaining utility. The ucas is where cost really adds up though.

Just don't make the mistake I made and waste 600.00 on Camburg UCA's that won't get you good alignment numbers. Get Light Racing UCA's or JBA High Caster UCA's Talk to Marie @HeadStrong Off-Road they will hook you up

Rear 5100's don't provide any lift, it's the springs or blocks that gives the lift.

You can add a rear AAL to the 5100"s for less than $80..

If you tow a lot, you may consider doing 5100s and putting Firestone RideRite airbags on the rear. They are adjustable depending on your load, so that you can hitch up and level your truck back out. The airbags could take the place of a AAL or block. That's what I did on my truck and I love the flexibility and versatility it provides.

Hey OP, a little more food for thought...if you do go with a light racing uca ( which is what I have installed and I bought them from headstrong, highly recommended) or even another uca keep in mind the camber and caster adjustment bolts more often than not, depending on location of course, tend to become seized. This will stop you from getting your alignment back to specs. Moog makes replacement bolts with grease fittings to prevent this from happening in the future.

IMHO, waiting may be the best bet:

Get your uca's (I bought replacement bolts too, short money which made it an easy decision)

make sure your able to correctly adjust all alignment bolts

If bolts are seized buy replacements. Double check moog part numbers because iirc there was an issue with them sending incorrect parts. Now if you have to replace a majority of bolts on your Lca's look into buying new Lca's reason being you can cut out old frozen bolts, and new Lca's come with bushings. Get under that beast and check out the condition of everything to figure out a course of action

Sway bar, skid plate and diff drop kits

Ecgs bushing and seal because if you do get a 3" lift chances are you'll jack up your differential needle bearing

    Obviously gear oil

Be prepared to do do a cmc. Some have to some don't. I had to. Call around to different fab shops/ mechanics to see if they're willing to do it if you can't yourself. It's not hard at all

I put on 285/75-17 duratracs 2013 DCSB trd or
This is my own experience and just upfront too so hopefully this will get you pointed in the right direction image.jpgimage.jpg
