Good morning all. Wanted opinions on ride quality (On and offroad) for 5100's, set at 1.75-2 inches with stock coils vs 5100's, set at 0, with OME 884 coils. My understanding is the 884's will give 2 inches of lift for my truck (2013 TRD OFF road 4x4)

My thoughts are that the OME's would ride far superior compared to stock coils in this situation as there is no preload on the springs. Thoughts? I'd like to know if I am offbase in my thinking. Thank you all for your time!

You are spot on! I would highly recommend the OME 884 coils over the oem ones.

I went from stock coils at 1.75 to 885 coils. Exact same lift. 885s are a softer ride. I don't have an Offroad model, so I have the linear rate coils.

    I had 884s with 5100s. 1.75" of lift and a nice ride.

Thanks. I was reading at Headstrong at 885's will give a 2.5 inch lift for me with Bilsteins. So I'm thinking of 844's to get closer to 2 inches.

Gotcha. Yeah, I'm wanting to stay away from 3 for now, to avoid UCA's so hence the 844's. Also, I'm not carrying extra weight right now and if I do in the future, it will most likely be an AL bumper.

    Been running 884s & 5100s for almost a year.
Night and day difference to stock. Wish I had done it sooner.

Skip the preload. Get some OME coils. Don't look back.

Kick Ass, thanks. I've got 78k on mine stock suspension now so it's time for a change.

To echo what others are saying, I ran 5100s and 884s on 0 for a number of years and the ride was great. Stiffened up well without being overly jarring (less body roll and brake dive). I got almost exactly 2" out of the setup (2.25" before it settled).

I didn't dislike the preloaded coils offroad, but the OME coils do ride much smoother.

Though the OME coils do have more body roll and brake dive than preloaded coils.

I would think so, since the spring rate is a bit softer as well as preload removed. I'm most concerned with a jarring/harsh ride, as my fiance will be a bit upset :(

I think the 884s are a great middle ground. Not jarring at all. My wife never complained and believe me when I say if anyone would, she would!

    It was never harsh.

Don't think I'm trying to talk you out of OME coils. I'm just providing the perspective of someone who's had both. If you're even considering it, get them. Make sure to pair them with Wheelers Offroad Superbumps. I've jumped (not completely my intent at the time) my truck, and it was like landing on pillows.

If you're doing the front, do some work on the rear too - at least shocks and Superbumps.
