well, I guess you could call this "around 5 inches"
but from the inside of the fender well, it's not actually 5 inches.
    and that's stock of course.

So is it true that for the first gens the 5100s only come with three adjustments? does anyone know the numbers? Because I am getting new leafs that should raise the back about 1.5 inches and i also want to level out the front. but I dont want the bro look either. does any one have pics of this setup with the front set at 2.5?

I wouldn't call it step by step, but I have something up on another forum with a decent amount of pictures. I didn't swap the springs on my own. I had it done, but uninstalled the stock shock and installed the shock after the spring swap.

i guess compressing the coils really is dangerous. one of the bolts on the compressor snapped and shrapnel went flying. im ok, but it scared the crap out of me. i gotta wait till tomorrow to get a new one and ill finish it up tomorrow.

Wow, glad to hear you are OK. I started compressing the springs with the loaner spring compressor from a local auto place, but it looked shaky. I then pictured having to tell my wife and daughter that I was missing part of my hand because I wanted to raise the front of my truck an inch.

If you have another ride, take the strut assemblies to a tire place that has a professional grade spring compressor. They won't charge much and it only takes them a few minutes. I think I paid $20 or $30 for the swap.
