Wanting to add a little lift to my Taco. I don't need anything crazy, rarely Off-Road anything more than finding a good fishing spot or going to the family cabin, and wanting to keep my budget friendly.. Trying. Haha.

Thinking of getting 5100's all around. So 4. A 1/4 spacer for front drivers side for Taco lean, as well as an AAL in the back. I may keep my OR coils, but considering some ProComp coils as well.. I'll be on my 265/75/16's until they wear out.

Any advice, suggestions, changes, or input?? This will be my first lift.

    Thanks!

    Thanks guys.. Got any pics?

Also how big is the different from 884 to 887's. If they add more lift, I'll probably stick to the 887's as long as the down travel isn't too bad, and ride is decently smooth.

887s gave me about 2.75 inches and with the AAL in that kit the front is about .5 inches lower than the rear, so it looks perfectly level. If you want some rake get the 885s and no top plate spacers. Here is mine

I did Bilstein 5100 on all corners. Fronts set one notch up with the OME 884s. Deaver 1.5-2" AAL on back. I came out level. Here it is lifted with stock Dunlop 265/65r17s. I got 3" lift up front and 2" in the back. It's been on for 3 months. I haven't measure to see how things have settled.

    Stock: Fronts: 20" Rears: 21.5"
With Lift: Fronts: 23" Rears: 23.5"

Ah ok. Looking good. So you have the 887's and top plate spacers... Do your 285's rub at all? I was planning on getting 285 duratracs once my Terra Grapplers wear out. They're about a year old.

I want mine level.. or maybe .5 of rake like you mentioned, so once it settles in it will sit level. My truck looks like it has a small lift already. The previous owner top plate spacers on it.. but I haven't looked to see if he changed out the coils... is there a way to tell? People often ask me what lift I have.

For three inches of lift you can do 885s with top plate spacers or 887s with no spacers. They both have the same spring rates the 887 is just slightly taller. I opted for no spacers but lots of people have them and like the ride. The reason the 887s aren't as well known as the 885s is because they are for 4runners, but they fit our trucks just fine.

My tires rubbed a bit, I had to trim the bumper and remove the front flaps. I love the look of the duratracs.

Yours kind of looks lifted...what size tires are those? You could take a pic of the coil and/or measure from hub center to fender.

Gotcha. Yea It appears to have some top plate spacers on the front, and the previous owners had Toyo MT's on it that were worn to shit. So I bought it and added the Terra Graps, but wished I went Duratracs. Like em both though. The tires are 265/75/r16 I believe.

Here are some photos of the front springs with whatever small spacers the previous owner put in. Can't tell what brand the coils are though, or if they're stock or not. I recently went to my family cabin so everything is covered in mud and dirt.

Here are the front coils and the spacer. If I measured right, from center of hub to fender I'm a little over 22" on the front drivers side. Then sitting around 22-inches on passenger side and in the back. There's no taco lean here. Might need to check all the tire PSI though haha. It's been 108 degrees here in Vegas.

Here's two pictures of the back. Not sure if anything is changed, or added. This is how I bought it almost 2 years ago and I'm new to lift kits haha.

This is probably already common knowledge but, if you're going higher than 1.5" on the front, there's a good chance (and it's a good idea to go ahead and buy) you'll need new UCA's to get the wheel just right for alignment. Headstrong advices not to set anything higher than the first notch on the 5100s or risk damaging your truck.

FUll disclosure: I went one step up and my alignment is fine, for now. I do plan to install UCAs within the year.

    Pictures added above ^

I've read a lot of people on here went with 5100's and some sort of coils and kept the stock UCAs.. actually, almost every thread I read people kept the stock, unless they went for a bigger lift.

You'll be fine with 5100's set at the 1.75" with stock UCA's. You will still be able to get your alignment within specs but just barely (caster still above or at 2). I did find that by going above 2" lift and bigger tires that the VSC was more sensitive vs staying below the 2" and 265's.

How many settings does the 5100 have. three? so 1.75 is the middle choice? Then the coils add some height as well. Now I'm looking at 6112's, but they cost a bit more.

    0", .85", 1.75", 2.5" though I really suggest you get OME coils. 884 for a 2" lift or 885 for a 2.5" lift. Much smoother ride.

Oh ok. Yea so I'm thinking of doing 5100's all around, OME 887's, and setting it to 1.75" (Maybe 2.5 with my 265's) and an AAL. And keeping the stock UCA's should be ok, right?
    This kit.

With OME coils, 5100 should be set at 0. Don't know if you're 4x4 but 887 will eventually tear up your CV boots.

I'm 4x4, yes. I have a 2011 Off-Road 4x4. And why would headstrong sell the 887's with the billies if they're going to wreck the CV boots?? I'm extremely new to lift kits.

So 5100's set at 0, OME 885 for 2.5" and the AAL in the back. That's what you're suggesting? Will I need longer brake cables. I might keep my top spacers to add to the 885's.

The more lift the greater the possibility you will go through those boots quicker than normal. Some folks are fine knowing this, some folks don't have this problem, and some folks maybe get less lift do to having more weight up front. When buying suspension its important folks take the time to do research and or ask questions so they understand what it is they are buying and know what to expect.

Oh and why would you preload an 887 coil to the 1.75 setting on the shocks when the coils are providing the 3" of lift. You trying to get 5" of lift up front?
