That's absurd. Even if you have the gear oil, transmission, oil change, rotation done, I'm not seeing how you get to $2900. I'm not sure what's in the 60K service from memory, but it's nothing overly significant.

I have followed the scheduled maintenance to a T as well.

Then again, it wouldn't shock me if a dealer is trying to rip you off - the dealer in Bozeman told me I had a leaky rack (lied) and said it would be $4900. I have the invoice and estimate to prove it.

They aren't even hiding their agenda anymore.

As I always say, they don't build these dealership waiting areas like casinos with tons of free shit like drinks, coffee, popcorn etc because they're doing it out of the kindness of their hearts - They're doing it because they are making you pay for it through insane service prices.

Pretty useless gripe if there's no itemized list of what is included in the service.

If you feel it is too expensive, go get another quote

OK, I pulled this from the web for 60,000 miles.....

    Screenshot 2025-08-21 113338.png

They are in fact thinking you are a sucker. Change the filters yourself, order them from Sparks. Get the rest done at an independent shop.

I now see they are doing spark plugs.

Even then, it's not $2900. My stealership, Fred Anderson wanted $700+ to do just spark plugs.

This channel should have damn near every tutorial you need to do the 60k service yourself - https://youtube.com/@teamoildrop?si=0DUrj4z-SM-Yjo6G

good luck friend. I got nervous doing my tranny so I paid only for the tranny service. Everything else I did myself using that channel. If you got the tools it’s super easy. If you don’t already work on your truck you might learn to like it as a bunch of us on here do as you work through this process. That’s what happened to me.

If you need tools start at Harbor Freight. If you start to like buying tools their Icon lineup are professional level for very cheap compared to other pro level brands. Their cheap stuff like Pittsburgh should work great if you don’t plan on using the tools often.

We're going to need more details on this. If you get quoted for an oil change for almost $3,000 then what is the other work that is trying to be done. Because no one is going to pay almost $3,000 for an oil change. And if they are I'll quit my day job and start changing peoples' oil in my house garage :D

Good for you for taking care of the second most important capital outlay in your life.

I will not use Dealer services for anything but recalls, and only if those are serious.

I paid my Independent dude $1,200 for the wifes 60,000 service ( did it at 55k ) on her 2017 ( bought it new ) Forester.
Tech explained that it's very important in the Subaru world to do this, especially the plugs as they see a lot who neglected it and the
plugs go stupid and fk up the entire CVT. Can't fix it either, has to be totally replaced. These cats only work on Subaru and I trust
    them completely.

I have a go-to-Independent shop for my Tacoma as well. They only work on Toyota's. Good people good work reasonable price.

Find a GOOD independent shop and get a quote and itemized listing of services. I bet it their price will come in at 50% or less.

The more eXcLaMaTioN PoinTS in a thread title, the less actual information in the first post.

It's like a rule, or something.

That said, yeah it's steep, but all of it is doable with some time and effort. If someone is physically unable to do the work or simply doesn't want to, best advice I would give is to just find an independent shop you trust or at least maybe locals have used with success. Good luck

Just kick in a few more bucks and tell them to order and install a new engine.

[Related]: I'm guessing the charge for an oil & filter change at that place is around $500 give or take?

    For the sake of curiosity…

The spark plugs in the engine cause the CVT (Transmission) to fail?
