6000lb warn winch enough?

is a 6000lb warn winch good enough to get me out of trouble if i get stuck? a friend is selling his but hes got a jeep and i know my taco is a lil heavier, esp with that 4.7 v8 installed

 

I am by no mean an expert, but what I read in my search for a winch all information I found said you need to have at least 1.5x the vehicles weight.

Don't think 6000 is gonna get it buddy. Minimum I would go would be 8000, and that's minimum. You have to think that if the truck is going uphill then you have even more of a load stressing the winch and it is going to need even more power to pull the truck.

 

typically you want you winch to be able to pull twice the weight of what you are pulling. also, whats this about a V8 Tacoma? Pics??

 

Yep..8,000 minimum.i had an 8k on my old 4runner, pulled it like a champ..if you look you can find brand new ones for around $500..my milemarker was buy one get one free..when i bought my 8k, they sent me a 2,000# for free so i have a brand new 2000# winch sitting in a box still
