Does this pricing look right? And do you think all this can all be done in 3 hours? Dropped my truck off at the dealer and it was
a sh*t show. Left it there at 8AM but paperwork says they didn’t start till 3PM. Wondering if all this can really be done in 3 hours?

When I finally got my truck after they closed it appeared the wipers weren’t changed. Then I noticed the brakes didn’t feel different either. Making me question if stuff was “missed”. I assume the pads were swapped but I wonder if they actually refinished the rotors and bled the brakes like they said…

At least it appears the engine cover was removed. The brake fluid looks topped off but I was expecting the brakes to feel more sensitive.

Considering taking to a smaller shop for another opinion. Appreciate any advice.

Transverse mount engine in a Tacoma?
    Since when.....?

All that would take me more than 3 hours for sure.
    But I'm not a tech....

As for the brake fluid. It will feel the same with new fluid.
Adjusting the rear brakes would make more of a "noticeable" feel.

    But at 60k?.....No.
    It will feel the same.....

Does the pricing look right? That would be a relative question.
They're certainly not parting from the dealership norm of getting top dollar for their work.
Could it be done without distraction in three hours by one proficient guy with a lift with all the right tools within arms reach? Probably, maybe.

You've paid the bill. I suppose the only question that remains would be, did they do the work.
New wiper blades look new... If they didn't swap them, what else did they, or did they not do?

If there was nothing inherently wrong with the brakes, there's no reason to expect any profound difference in feel. New pads, rotors and a flush don't necessarily translate to discernible difference in performance.

    Good luck.

Thanks. This is probably the last time I go to the dealer for service.

FWIW, the price look right on par with dealership prices.
The 299.00 for front, rear and transfer case is actually lower than I've seen at most places.
Most are individually at about $150 each.

You can look for a lip on the rotor surface. There should be no lip on the outside edge of the rotor if they were turned.
And to be honest, i don't know any tech that would NOT turn them. Most replace them. Come backs for brake noise is "aggravating".
You always do EVERYTHING possible to eliminate brake noise and pulsation. Skipping the rotors will bite you in the ass. No real tech does something like that.....
    Not on a customer car.

Would make sense, thanks. that’s good to know. They probably just forgot the wipers and started making me worry about other stuff too. Especially since it seemed like they were way behind.

90% of the time, there will evidence of some kind at the fill and drain plugs.
It will either have some residual fluid left behind, or super clean where they brake cleaned and wiped it down.

You won't hear me bash Technicians. They don't have an easy job. And time is money.
    Some are better than others.

But there are ways to tell......

You know how to put things politely, my friend. :)

    And I'll second the rotors.
A freshly turned rotor is as impossible to miss, as one that wasn't.

If I'm a pissed off, overworked and feeling underpaid tech that still wants his job, at least for the moment, I'm gonna do the brakes, sans the bleed, of course.. maybe a few of the easy plugs, drain and fill the oil, then run an oily rag over the rest of the list.

But then again, even as a disgruntled employee I'd have changed the wiper blades.
They're on the list, and the easiest of all these things to spot, by nearly anyone..

In the future, you could mark 1, 2, 3, 4 with a Sharpie on the inside wall of each tire and see where each number ends up after the paperwork says they were rotated.

honestly, i didn't know anyone still turns rotors. every shop i know just replaces the rotors now. due mostly to time, liability, and come-back issues.

i mean, rotors are $60 each, the calipers are already out, the wheels already off, and shop rate is $150... turning takes 1 hour each, where swapping rotors takes less than 0.25 for both sides with the parts already removed for the pads...

My 07 is at 252,000 miles.

*I change my own oil every 6 months or 10,000 miles for about $30
    *Tire store rotates tires free
    *My brake fluid is factory
*Transfer case and diffs need to be done every 150,000.
    *Spark plugs every 100,000
*Transmission fluid is factory. I never change it in any vehicle. Never had an issue in several million miles.
*Thats probably a fair deal on wiper blades IF you need them. I replace mine yearly at about that price.
*$300 is fair for brakes and turning rotors IF THEY WERE NEEDED. My rotors have been turned and at 252,000 miles are still factory. Will need new ones next time.
    * No need to clean/adjust rear brakes.

Thank you this is really helpful. Will look into doing more of my own stuff or just going to a smaller local place. Definitely not doing a dealer again.

I stopped in at the dealer for a 55K oil change (with coupon) and while there, asked them for the individual prices for my upcoming 60K service. Here's what they came up with. Some prices seem OK, others are totally out of line.
    Oil, filter, lube $110
    Intake filter $55
    Cabin filter $60
    Spark Plugs $550
    Drain and fill coolant $280
Drain and fill Brake fluid $220
    4-WD Service (F &R Diffs and Transfer Case) $400
    Manual Transmission Oil $300

    TOTAL $1,975 US

So the plan is to get prices from at least 1 more dealer and a couple of good independents. What are your thoughts on going back to the Service Manager once I'm better informed and trying to negotiate a package price, or is nit better to just give my business to the most competitive shop?

While I certainly wouldn't pay it, the only thing I see on that list the seems reasonable, assuming they perform the job they charge you for, would be the plugs.
If you have an hour to spare and basic hand tools, the rest could be done in your driveway for a couple hundred bucks.

Drain and fill brake fluid.. o_O

Not changing brake fluid in 17 years is bonkers
It has degraded. Go change it before you need to do a panic stop when some distracted mother with her clown car full of kids pulls out in front of you and you park inside their car instead of cursing her driving while you all go on about your day
