Sorry to hear about your dog man. I cried for days after my dog passed. It's been over a year and if I see his pic, I tear up instantly.

Sorry Joe, that is tough. My condolences, and I hope you can stay strong. Fate has a funny way of working out - maybe Bosch was needed for more important duties elsewhere.

Chin up man, love your Shepard and enjoy the memories. Love and loss are what make us stronger.

Someone once told me about the Rainbow Bridge. At first I thought the idea was lame. After loosing more and more of my furry friends, I'm hoping this is the truth. Not sure if it will help you at all OP but it puts a smile on my face reading this.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Sorry to hear that. My baby is 13 and I know I'll be devastated when she passes.
Best of luck with your healing.

You are welcome. I also have a frame of my dog with this on it. It's always helped me out when I get really down in the dumps about my furry buddies.

...sniff sniff. I'm not over 6' but I am over 200 lbs and turned into a heaving sobbing wreck last time I had to deal with the end of my dog's life. Same thing even happened when I read "Marley and me".
If you haven't read the book it's great but hide in a private area when you finish it. You'll know when to go.
Enjoy your shep and pour the extra love into him, you'll both benefit.
I'm going to go scratch my two Goldens' ears now.

Sorry for your loss. I cried like a baby for days when i lost my 6yo pitbull Champ from a seizure. Lost my 14yo pitbull Zoey from cancer this past january. Her death was a little easier to cope with because of her age. I have both of their pics here next to my computer. I recently adopted a 2yo pitmix from a shelter in Philly. She was scheduled to be euthanized just 2 hours before i adopted her so saving her life helped my wife deal with Zoey's passing. I know how you feel, they're family.

    Joe,

I feel for ya man... I just found out this past weekend that my 9 1/2 yr old pup has a bone tumor on her back foot, and I've been an absolute wreck since... normally I'm pretty solid but the slightest thing lately has been bringing tears to my eyes and causing me to struggle to breathe.

My thoughts are with ya man... just like everyone else who's posted and read this (but didn't comment)... any of us that have had a pet feel your pain
