@garciav - I purchased the ARP flywheel bolts as the added option through URD when I purchased the URD twin disc clutch / flywheel combo.

My 2015 Tacoma is another clutch masters failure. Installed 2 years and 33,000 miles ago when my clutch went. Also installed a URD stage 3 and short throw shifter then. For about 10 months the truck hasn’t been right. No amount of adjusting fixed the clutch. It became frequent that the only way to get into gear was to completely muscle the shifter. A few weeks ago I started losing fluid. I knew it was coming, just wasn’t overly excited about doing the work. Started tear down Tuesday, today I made the parts to install the Tilton HRB and managed to get the transmission back in and start bleeding the clutch. I’m keeping the stock pedal, but I had the entire pedal/master assembly out and had it pretty empty of fluid. Got the system bled, but I’m not completely convinced. As of now with the pedal at its limit I can move the output shaft on the transfer case, but still seems like it’s dragging. Any input from others that have set this up? Based on watching the Tilton video I may be there. Just looking for some validation. Thanks.

If you're running a dual disc setup, I would suggest going back to single disc. I know that I installed my twin disc correctly, but it was never right. The hot spots in the pictures I sent were just trying to feather it in/outta gear. Single disc clutch and stock flywheel = dream come true. I feel your pain - I've dropped the tranny 5 times in the last 3 - 4 years, BUT assembly lube and new hardware have made it much easier to reassemble / disassemble. I did the pedal stop by myself. I suggest lifting the back tires, using a long Irwin clamp to push the pedal from the back of the steering wheel little by little so you can spin the rear tires. As soon as I found the traveling distance, I installed a block of wood. Then you can get fancy from there.

But as far as validation...that comes from the measurements, which absolutely matter, for the distance from the pressure plate fingers to the bearing face of the Tilton setup. If you're at an 1/8", pat yourself on the back. BUT - if you get stranded on the side of the road, (like I did with the CM setup) with fluid coming from the front of the tranny where it meets the motor, then you have over traveled. There has to be a mechanical stop or all that hard work will literally walk right off the shaft.

Thanks for the tips! I don't think I would have tried using a clamp to slowly confirm pedal position. I want to bleed the clutch one more time to verify no more bubbles come out since I had it empty. I attempted to move the upper pedal stop down all the way and shorten the piston on the master cylinder - the available travel was right at 1" and seemed like a reasonable start considering the chart Tilton provides. I haven't confirmed that the pedal has 1/4" movement from when I can move the output shaft (my driveline isn't attached yet so I can't check at the wheel). I need to modify further however because the pedal isn't returning to the top correctly. I think I am mostly surprised at how little movement is really needed and after 8-10 months of suspecting my clutch is dragging I am afraid to have that happen again.

If you can you may want to try pulling a vacuum from the top side of the clutch reservoir to bleed the system.

If you took the pedal/master out completely you may have some air bubbles trapped that are having a hard time getting out with just conventional bleeding

I agree with Garciav. If you still have hard lines installed you may have to tap on them as well to send any air pockets up. (Or fill the reservoir, crack bleeder open while submerged in fluid, eat a sandwich while gravity does its thing) Bleed the system first - the clamp was only to help if you were trying to measure the mechanical pedal stop by yourself. (After the system was bled) also, I'm not sure if the upper tab on the pedal is a mechanical stop or just the tab that actuates the neutral/safety switch. BUT - if you still have your pedal out, you can drill an M8 hole in the center of that upper tab and adjust a long M8 Bolt with jam nuts.

It is assembled! I tried suction on the reservoir but never got any significant air out. Made a few more adjustments and feel happy with the system. The clutch pedal feels very different, but I like it. I only drove about 3 miles today because I ordered the wrong exhaust gasket. I reused my clutch so I’m not worried about a break in period. Tuesday should be a fun day once the final piece is buttoned up. It’s quite a different experience to drive this truck when you can get it in gear!

It kind of makes me feel better that I'm not the only one that has to work on their vehicles in the dirt, although your barn setup looks pretty legit.

First three are out! Thanks for everyones patience. I'm trying to chip away a little bit each day around work/life in general. I'll get quicker at it as I get a few more under my belt. And iron out the material wait times...

Moving down the spreadsheet now. I'll be in contact with the next runners up soon.

Good luck to those 3! I am thrilled with the Tilton setup so far. Probably only 50 miles of driving around, but what a difference. I should have pulled mine apart long ago and fixed it.

FYI, the supplied QR code is incorrect for the instructions. I totally forgot to revise them and redo the QR. Bear with me. :goingcrazy:

Edit: Instructions now up to date.

This clutch masters group buy was a complete embarrassment and pathetic engineering attempt. Sucks how many members here got screwed in the process.

Hope this Tilton setup proves to be the answer for all us 3 pedal drivers!

So everyone that recently wanted a kit has got it (or it's arriving shortly). I'm caught up now. I've also got Zelle setup so that it's more convenient to transfer for you American folks. However, I need to receive a transfer in order to "officially activate" my account that I opened. Can someone do me a solid and send me a dollar please? I'll send it back. :D

There is a RC62 near me and I'm re-inspired to do a manual transmission swap on my 14 DCLB. That is...if I can put together all of the pieces. @Kasbien : Do you have more info on your kit including ordering?

    Thanks!!

Okay. I think I'm getting better at this. I had @DesertRatliff 's kit made and sent out in two days time thanks to some proper organization and continuous improvement. I regret deserting this because it's actually pretty cool seeing it all come together in the form of a completed package that's going to help some (likely) frustrated folks out! Thanks again @BillDaCat8 for being our solutions guy! :hattip:

This week I'll work on getting a buy/sell thread going in order to reach more people who aren't just from the Clutch Master's group buy thread.
