6spd mt?

so how many of you are wheeling your 2nd gen 6spd's? any clutch or tranny issues on the trail? slipping etc.? just curious how happy or unhappy you are with your 6spd off road...getting ready to break my new project in ...is it smooth creeping over the rocks and holding on a hill? i have 33in km2's ...thanx for the input

Love my manual transmission offroad. 1st gear + 4LO = awesome for ascending & descending steep hills.

It's also nice to be able to crawl down a steep hill in 1st gear without having to touch the brakes.

My throwout bearing squeaks but I think that was standard equipment from the factory.

I typically start off in 2nd gear in 4LO if its not too steep.

 

yea i just had my throwout bearing and pressure plate and dick replaced under warrenty...i got lucky there...it started to squeak about 3 weeks after i bought it certified used with only 33k on it...brought it in an said fix it or you can have it back so they did...

 

It will squeak again...Just wait.

 

i know but i got all that shit for free so why not new clutch p plate and bearing makes me happy when its free

 

I love mine, made a recent trip to the outer banks which has many of sand trails and beaches to drive on, never had to air down, clutch makes hills easier I think, and helps avoiding getting stuck.
Deep sand? Uphill? 4 lo, 2nd or 3rd gear, no probs

 

I've had no issues with mine...Rode it pretty hard and used to as a recovery vehicle. Never given me problems I didn't create for myself.

 

manuals are the only way to go. I love mine. I've been through Moab a couple times with it and 4lo will crawl through anything. the short throw shift was worth it for off roading too.

 

Mine does great. I did burn it a little in some sand but that was my fault. I dont get into sand that much.

 

where in ny are you? those powerlines look familiar!!! i lived my entire life in upstate i just moved to ct.

If I'm doing anything solo or where moving fast isn't a neccessity I'll be in 4-LO. 33s plus weight just makes things sluggish...gears are definitely on the short list right now.

 

I love mine, I just did a new clutch not too long ago after 77,000 miles.

I haven't really had any problems. I do have a loud ass bearing...Input shaft bearing I am suspecting. Not really a problem other than I am going to have to drop the tranny sometime and fix it.

I do want a re-gear soon, the trucks getting slower and slower

Your E-brake will be your best friend when starting/stopping on hills. Learn how to take off using your e-brake to hold you in place until your clutch grabs and starts pulling you forward.
