Ordered and received NAPA part referenced by Ranger098. Didn't fit. Possibly for a different year Tacoma. Purchased the Honda Ridgeline part listed by Lute. Fit perfectly. Pictures provided by Whiplash777 were very helpful.

I used this write up to fix my trailer plug that I broke in the first NJ storm. Thanks to Ranger & Whiplash for posting Lutes diagram. Using the NAPA plug worked awesome, Copied IronPeak's picture and relocated plug into bumper next to license plate. NAPA also sent a free hat w/Plug. Thanks Everyone.

Sub'd for my replacement. Excellent write up. Anybody have pics of the install into the plate lamp? How does it mount into that hole?

This comes up as for a ford, and the rest of the thread talks about the Honda Ridgeline. Can anyone confirm which is the same as toyota stock? I am extremely ignorant when it comes to wiring and electrical. Are all 7 plug harness the same depending on how you wire them?

So does this plug back into the factory wire harness?

Never got an answer, but still need to complete the repair at some point. I'll give it a free bump and hopefully get some answers in the thread.

The wire harness from honda looks like it would plug into the toyota wire harness but the wires need to be rearrange I think

Yes, it's the factory wiring put into a new connector body where you'd plug the trailer into.

You are using the connector body. That's the jist of this thread. Swapping your busted connector body with this one, and keeping the factory wires from the busted one.

Lots of dollars and no sense...
So essentially what I'm picking up is this 50$ honda plug is a direct replacement, simple plug and play, in exchange for the toyota 218$ same thing!?!? Replacing the whole pig tail.

Mounting bracket for the Honda may be different but one can simply just zip tie it up out of the way for non-daily use....

I think you have to re-wire the connections to make them in the right spots. I didn't want to rebuild it so I've put it off. But some day, I'll jump down this road as well.
