Awesome got you yes sir my ground wire is a good thick one and it came pre connected to the back of the U-Haul seven-pin connector so I hooked it straight to the frame where the 4-pin was mounted to and screw to the frame. Cross your fingers and wish me luck I'm fixing to hook up to my lawn trailer and see LOL

Well my brother upon first inspection to hook up to my trailer all lights are working I have power to my lights inside when I hit the brake it shows there's connection. So all there's left to do now is get it and drive it down the road but I believe this light project is done, thanks to you. Not sure where you're at but if you're ever in my neck of the woods I owe you a mixed drink, beer, glass of sweet tea or whatever your taste buds prefer for saving me from going to Toyota and getting ripped off. Hats off sir thank you very much

    Glad to help out.

Appreciate the offer, but I don't have any plans to be going to Florida.

Worked great on both trailers....If you do make it this way I owe you one for sure. All the lights and brakes worked great, even my bass boat trailer LEDs....now for some stiffer rear springs :spending:It never ends :frusty:

Just completed the replacement using the honda part. Piece of a cake and saved me a grip of cash. Thanks OP!

I really wish Toyota would have added a 4 pin connector as well (4Runner has it...). How many people are towing trailers that have trailer brakes or even require trailer brakes with a Tacoma?! lol

I agree with having the 4-pin, but it's a simple adapter. I do pull a 14' cargo trailer, and believe me it needs brakes.

I use mine with a lawn trailer and needed the 7 pin

I wasnt saying it was useless, or to get rid of it. I was saying that the amount of people that do not need a 7 pin connector to the ones that do has to be pretty lop sided, and that they should have added a 4 pin connector to it as well. My 4Runner has a 7 pin connector and a 4 pin, and most full size trucks do as well, which is nice because I dont have to worry about losing the adapter lol.

I wish I would have added one when I replaced mine after it was damaged, I just went with the OEM harness since the insurance company was paying for it. Which makes me wonder if the 4Runner harness would work?

Does the U-haul one work with USCAR harness/factory connector as a repair for broken?

    Here we go again!
Did you have to cut the hole or did it fit right in?

Ordered the Honda harness, and after a few unsuccessful tries at getting the clip out to de-pin, I just cut the wires and reconnected them and covered with heat shrink. And it worked! Want to thank you all for this idea, such a huge savings.

Looks like this one won't work. I got it to try and unfortunately Toyota couldn't be simple and use a simple standard format. I guess I'll have to get the Honda one for $55.
