just fix it. it will take 15 minutes. don't trust the dealer in 5 years to replace your frame if it rusts. like anthony says, our trucks are on the beach ever weekend sometimes and aren't rusty at all. just takes some time and maintenance

Yeah I guess I should do it. Just read through some threads and it seems hit or miss but some did get a new frame or buy back. I've driven in a few feet of saltwater before which is probably why this is happening already. Makes me feel like it may be a lost cause.

^ I don't know what year you have, but I have a 12' and since I've gone through sea water many times as well I have surface rust all over the frame. I'm planning on doing everything in the next few weeks as well. Just gotta make sure to get it done before it gets anything more than just surface rust...

Salt water isn't bad, but you must was it off right away. If the salt was left on the truck most likey your cause if rust. Salt is very corrosive but as long as you treat the effected areas you'll be fine. Just stay on top of it and don't let the rust turn into cancer

Haven't thought about it too much but probably just do it when I go through my suspension next. Just going to take susp completely off and attack as much rust as I can get to. Then paint. It doesn't have to be too crazy. You'll notice some areas are more prone to rust than others, so you can double up on the undercoating.

Haha. You can do mine while I micromanage with beer in hand! Haha ;)

I didnt wash mine after a few of the times I went in the water. I dun goofed.

Gonna wire/sand it down then prime and either paint or bedliner spray it. Not gonna use undercoating, I read some bad things about it.

I have to order my Wheelers Super Bumps for the front & rear. Once I receive those, I will need to drill holes in the rear brackets so that they will fit onto my AllPro U-Bolt Flip Kit Plate. I also still need to order my AllPro Front Extended Brake Lines. I also have to take my Camburg Ball Joint UCA's off and swap the ball joints. After those parts are in hand & ready to go.... I'll be installing everything.... and cross my fingers.

I may need Axle Shims & Carrier Bearing Drop Bracket post suspension install but, we'll see..
I also plan on doing the Cab Mount Chop...It's just hard for me to find the time to get things done.

I don't know how much All Pro sells their extended brake lines for but here on TW a member has a group buy going since 2010 where you can get 4 extended lines (whatever length you want) delivered to your door for $106. I think he'll even sell just two lines if that's what you need. PM him. I purchased 4 lines and they shipped next day. He lives in orange county and is on top of customer service so you get them really fast. Read through the thread and you'll see 100% satisfaction from everyone who bought. Just tossing it out there.
