Lol not yet. I've ordered the battery box now all I need is the battery. When I put the new battery in I'm going to hook up a fuse box too.

I hooked my new auxiliary speaker up today.

I really want to replace the old stock head unit with something more modern but I can't figure out what radio will fit in the stock spot. I guess the cassette/auxiliary shindig will due for now.

This is what I had in my old 4runner, and it worked great:

That is really clean! I have clearance issues with my CB unit. It's too long and a little too wide to fit into the ashtray slot. I've been trying to make it work though because there is no turning back now.

I shamelessly had to replace the old aux speaker because I cut through the wire when I was trying to relocate the CB.

Kids, unplug your shit before you start cutting.

Pretty much any single din will fit with an install kit.

I went wheeling today with a friend just around some mountain roads. I did get some travel out of the longer shocks, but I'll be in much better shape once I get new springs.

Everyone thinks I'm joking when I say I'm bad at wiring but for serious...I'm less than good.

Just need to understand what you're doing, and take your time doing it.

I spent hours soldering and running wire through the 85. Not looking forward to doing it again.

I've learned a lot since then. I just hate that I have to pull the lower radiator hose off to get the alternator out.

    Found my problem.

    How it should sit:

Can I JB weld the metal nut back onto the alternator housing?

I dunno. The right thing to do would be pull the case apart and tighten the stud. Where did you get the alternator?

And you shouldn't need to remove the lower radiator hose. Should be able to get to the lower alternator bolt from underneath.

    I got it from NAPA.

Then how the hell do I get it out and put the new one in? That's how I remember doing it. I couldn't get the alternator to go in from the top so I had to go in from the bottom.

    Hehe.

BTW the wire I used is 4ga wire and I have another 18ft or left.

I just really do not want to mess with the timing which is why I don't want to pull it out.

Well, you can pull the hose, or the fan and shroud. Whatever you think is easier.

That sucks though man. That's why I'm hesitant to buy parts store pieces.

Pull what out? Nothing about the alternator has to do with timing. Unbolting the fan won't mess up the timing.

The alternator? Why did I have to adjust the timing when I swapped it in? Because it is bigger than the OEM one?
