884s with 5100s @ 0 are a great combination. I got 2" dead on with mine, but haven't checked to see if they have settled at all since.

So I can run the 5100s with the OME 884 coils? Would it not be better to run the whole OME 2885 kit since the dampers are made to work with those coils?

If you have the money I wouldn't the struts and coils, I did run 885s with 5100s without issues as well.

If I opt for the 2885 setup I'm stuck at approx 1.75 lift in the front, yes? It seems that's how much the 2885 kit lifts the truck.

If I go to the 884 coil with 5100s I can still play with lift height within the 5100s adjustments. Yes?

Also, I'm assuming the 2885 OME kit keeps the factory front rake.

No. 885s are 2.5 inches of lift in the front, 884s give 2 inches of lift. All of the lift comes from the coil, not the strut. Regardless of which struts you decide on you will get the same lift. Technically you could play with the height by adjusting the settings on the 5100s, but they are supposed to be set to 0 when paired with the OME coils.

Yup. Just FYI I have the 5100s paired with OME 887 coils for just under 3 inches of lift and I love it. Had it for about 2 months now and I'm so happy with it.

Yes. When pairing the OME coils with the 5100s you should always set the strut to the lowest setting (0"). OME has several coils to choose from in order to get the lift height you are after.

I'm sort of in the same boat. Want to run 265/75R16 and 5100/885 for 2.5" lift.. Then on the otherhand the 285's w/ 5100/887 looks damn good. I'm just not interested in cutting up my new truck because of rubbing. Plus the wife would absolutely kill me.

I have 5100/887 with 285s and do not rub at all. Depends on the tires you use and the offset of the rims.

    This is true.

I had some light rubbing for street driving. I lived with it for about a week before having it trimmed up. Not much was required, and you can't even tell unless you know what to look for. I wouldn't let that keep you from getting what you want. Besides, you'd only need to trim the splash guard on the bumper and maybe a tiny bit of the fender...that's all it was on mine. And you're right, the 285s look sooo damn good. :D

I'm looking at that headstrong kit as well. Back to the tire rub.. What do you think of the SCS SR8's with 285/75r16 KO2's? Think they would rub w/ the 887's? I'm just worried about cutting and a CMC. But, if it'll fit like butter then we might have something.

Then there is always the "play it safe" and go 885 w/ 265.. Same wheel and tire combo.

I've also thought about level 8 Bully Pro's, Cooper's STT or Toyo R/T as well.

If you are planning on wheeling hard then you'll probably want to do the cmc with 285s. Otherwise I doubt you'll need to worry about it. I just had some light trimming on the front bumper splash guard and a tiny bit on the fender where the mud flap was.

Try posting on the sr8 thread and ask if anyone is running the setup you want...might get lucky!

What's going to give me a better ride, 5100s with 884/885 coils or 5100s with factory coils.

I'm of the opinion that preloading a strut deteriorates the ride some. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I think you'd be better off with getting the aftermarket coils. I would think it would ride better and be better for your truck in the long run. I've never rode in a truck with the other setup though so...

You don't want to ride in a truck with my setup.
