Just like any liquid, the hotter it gets, the thinner it becomes. A Hot shock is not going to dampen as well as one that is cooler. Keep in mind, I pushed them hard to get them hot, and odds are your not gonna over heat them.

Now that I have read more threads than I thought possibly existed and have confused myself beyond reason, lets see if I can ask a simple question in order to get a simple answer.

In the beginning I was going to get the spacers to level the front, then found that the 5100s are better for that. Now I am finding out that the 885s are a better option still. Question is this, since I don't do any extreme off roading (basically hunting, weekend exploring through the mountians, washboard roads etc) and have no intention of jumping my truck, can I achieve a smooth ride with the 5100s and stock springs or do I need to go with the 885s (or 884 since I only have access cab) as well? Is the 1/4" top plate spacer needed for both setups?

You should be fine lifting with the 5100's/ You can always swap in OME springs down the linee if you want

Chris 4X4, Solus & everybody else who gave their input on this matter, Thank You.

I have a prerunner (2wd) 4 door and am going to buy the 5100's for all four corners. I see that the 884 and 885's are both 590 spring rate. I'll be running some 265/70/R17 Nitto TG. What will be a better ride?

884's and Billies at .85" or 885's and billies at 0"

I'd like to get around 2-3" of lift

    Thanks.

    HaHa. Seriously!

1 more question and no more! I promise.
With the suggestion of 885's and 5100's at 0, how much lift should I expect?

    2"?

Depends. I have found the "885x" from Toytec, and the regular 885's from Wheelers give close to, or right at 3" lift.

They should be. The Older OME springs gave about 2" lift. A while back, they began pre stressing them, and they have been giving 2.5 to 3" lift.

I'm assuming new UCAs would be recommended with the 885s and Billies at 0?
