Based on this picture of an 885 spring which is the stop and which is the bottom that seats in in the shock perch? Also when in stalling them, is there a specific direction they should be facing ie: bottom coil end facing in or out?
    Thanks in advance.

That’s how they should be oriented when installed. The coil end fits into a rubber cup with the corresponding notch for it to fit into.

So they are not upside down in the pic? I thought the top part in the pic looks more narrow and fits into the shock "cup" and the bottom part of the pic looks larger and flatter to rest against the top and and bushings.

and does it matter if i have the end of each springs pigtail facing towards the truck or out?

Admittedly been a few years since I had to think about it, so maybe, maybe not.. but the coil end has a rubber cup it fits into, so when it’s installed it’ll be obvious. Not only that, OEM coils aren’t installed in the same orientation, so it’s just an easy thing to figure out when it’s all in front of you.

Rubber or Steal cup? My 5100's have a steel cup to hold the spring unless you're talking about the rubber plate at the top under the tophat. If so then that would mean the picture is correct and they are orientated with the flat part on the bottom which is the opposite of what this thread I just found says:
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/quick-ome-question.154985/

So now i'm confused and my be over thinking this. I just need to know if the pic shows the springs upside down which I believe it does but am not sure.
Thanks, and @T4RFTMFW not trying to dismiss what you're saying, just trying to understand if we are referring to the same "cup" or not.

I recall there being a rubber isolator that sat against the coil and the spring perch/cup.

I’m not talking about the steel cup on the 5100 shock itself.

I don’t think the orientation of the coil end matters, though seems like it’s able to be rotated in situations where the coil isn’t aligned parallel with the shock body.

Ahh, yes there is. It was confirmed by chris4x4 that the springs in the pic are indeed upside down and should be mounted opposite of that picture in the OP. I believe we were/are on the same page no @T4RFTMFW ignoring your first post.
Thanks for the help though. I am by nature, an "over thinker"

As long as we get somewhere..

I was really happy with my OME coils.. much better ride than stock coils at .85 or 1.75.

Mind the plan for yours.. no lift coil is recommended to run preloaded so if you do that, keep it no higher than .85 setting. Also if you’re ever in communication with Bilstein, don’t tell them you’re using OME coils.

They void their fairly shitty warranty on the shocks if they’re not factory or Eibach coils.

Yeah I'm planning on setting the 5100's at 0. If ever a need to warranty them I'll tell them it was on a stock coil but even then, knowing how they warranty stuff it's probably not worth it to ship a shock to them on my dime, them to take a month to tell me it's not covered, and then me pay to have it shipped back to me while they give me a 10% off discount on a shock I can buy anywhere else cheaper haha. They make quality stuff but their "limited lifetime warranty" is not anything I considered a huge selling point.
