    Of course they are.

    They are yard lights.

Doubtful your truck will know the difference. If it asks what you are doing back there, just change the subject. Tacomas are easily distracted.

if its easier to hold the bulb, no worries as you won't ruin it by touching it, you only "risk" ruining it if you touch it and forget to wipe it down with alcohol wipe before you actually install. i never worry about touching bulbs, wipe them with new alcohol wipe and they are good as new, still using set of HIDS that are 5 years old and in their 3rd car and have been touched multiple times.

    http://www.sylvania.com/en-us/applications/automotive-lighting-systems/Pages/lrgmain.aspx#fldYear

These are what I've been running for four years- the original ones I bought. Tonite i stopped at Home Depot and bought the G6.35 Philips bulbs, 35w 460 lumens. They aren't as bright as the sylvania ones I already had. Now the Philips are $6 while the Fein brand are $8 and advertise 700 lumens. I went the less expensive route, but the Philips had a slight yellow color and simply not as bright. I may try the Fein but I'm not sure it would be worth it. Oh, if you snip the ends of the wires on the bulb about 1/16" when you seat the bulb, it'll snap into place VERY securely into the socket and is held nicely by the plastic.

Those are 50 waters ERMB, there was some talk about possible issues with heat. But that is the wrong base. You want the GY6.35 base. 35 watt with the GY6.35 base will also fit. After reading this thread, it seems like a lot of guys run the 50 watt without issue. I guess it just depends on if you will be running the lights for extended periods of time.

I bought the G6.35 35w Phillips bulb at Home Depot for under $6. I put one in and compared it to the Sylvania silverstars I already had and it was not as bright and very slightly tinged yellow. This bulb is 460 lumens.

Picked up the gy6.35 35w Utilitech bulbs at Lowes yesterday, on sale for $4.78 each. Makes a big difference. With the topper, tinted windows and living in the sticks, I need all the help I can get.

If you're talking about the gy6.35 bulbs. You don't have to trim them at all. I didn't, and fit great.

The original OP. You have to trim those yo fit. The ones you are going to do, no trimming involved. Just have to push the prongs in the connection where the bulb goes together. So it's a tighter fit. Easy peasy.
