Just wanted to share what I was doing at work, never gotten this far into an engine before, it's at least toyota related.

This girl brought her 1989 Toyota Cressida in for overheating. Pull the hood up and the radiator had started to seperate along the top. Put a new radiator/thermostat in it in, get it running, dosen't act right, we can hear the miss in the exhaust. We put the pressure cap on and almost instantly white smoke came pouring out the tail pipe. She cracked the head gasket, will be my first HG replacement.

The car is in great condidtion. Very clean inside and out for a 1989. Still has the original exhaust on it, has 108,000 on the odo, is Rear Wheel Drive. The Cressida is basically the sedan version of the Toyota Supra minus the turbo.

Pics are of it taken down to the block. That was the easy part. Head has been sent out.

lol those 7M cressys are known to blow head gaskets like no other. im suprised that one lasted past 100K...if i remember correctly they weren't tightened enough from the factory leading to this premature HG fail. anyway GL!

I was reading about that. The "revised" torque is supposed to be 75 Ft Lbs.

After seeing what this chick did to her radiator, not surprised her HG was toast. Hmmm....Yeah, the old one (radiator) is still laying around, I'll take a shot of what she did to it.
