@Sold My Subaru Thanks for the info. I will look into the coolant flush.
@Kidwidataco Myself and many others are in the same school of thought as you are. It is interesting how most of what the dealership charges so much for is so easy to do oneself. Of course, it does take an initial investment of the necessary tools.

I asked the dealership for a quote because I wanted to give my wife an idea of how much money we are saving, even after the investment of tools. At the same time, I am also comfortable with my own limitations, be it skill, time, etc., and would seek out a competent mechanic when needed.

PS I wish I could surf, but I can paddle (a surfboard)!

Hm, 90k service is just a regular one right - with the addition of the diff fluids and plugs? Oil change, plugs, diff fluids, grease DS, check air filters (cabin and engine), check tire psi, etc? I thought the 100k was the coolant flush (and possibly trans flush)?

I’m MT so trans flush is out of my wheelhouse. I would do the coolant at 90k just for posterities sake and be done with it. After the initial coolant flush a think the interval goes down to every 60 or 70 thousand miles.

Yes, pretty much a regular service. I think that I will get the coolant flush out of the way for "posterities" sake. LOL

No joke i never changed my spark plugs for 90,000 miles so i figured what the hell ill ask what the Toyota dealer was charging since i wanted to get a few other things done. The dealer told me it would be $640 just to change the plugs because it was a 4 hour job and they were hard to get to i already had the iridium plugs i wanted to replace them with i was like "Whaaaat?" ok thank you! Took it to my local pep boys and they changed them for $150.
