What i thought was a routine starter swap went south . Installed starter all dash lights come on headlights work but when I turn the key i get nothing, cleaned all connections, tested for power to starter and have it. when i turn the key it almost sounds like the fuel pump buzzes only while key is turned . Any idea? Thanks in advance

Have you checked the safety switch?

Its above the clutch pedal. There is a plastic bumper that goes into a hole in the pedal that presses the switch when the clutch pedal is up.

Switch seems fine I turned key over with headlights on and it didn't dim or seem to draw. The truck will pop start and run fine . Checked fuses . I'm stumped

Since you changed the starter have you made sure the cable is pushed all the way in the solenoid?

Yeah, they can get corroded. The starter solenoid could be bad too. You can jump the solenoid with a screwdriver to start the truck too if you can't roll it off.

I ran a jumper to solenoid on the started and hear 2 things , fuel pump and a clicking almost coming from in the cab ? Is there another solenoid in the system I can check or is it just the one on the starter

If you hear arcing in the cab it could be the terminals at the ignition switch, but I didn't think it was this because you said the fuel pump was getting power. I would see what voltage the starter is getting before you mess around with replacing cables. I'd still try disconnecting the wire from the safety switch if you haven't already just to rule that out.

COR relay, but they rarely go bad, and with the fuel pump kicking on that usually shows that the COR is working correctly. Go and jumper the Fp to the B+ in the diag port. That will make your pump run whenever key is on. Also jumper te and e1 and see if you are getting an afm code, or any codes.

My guess is clutch start switch has failed. Common.

I think @Pickeledpigsfeet was talking about the safety switch, not the clutch start cancel you are thinking of. If you're truck still starts by using the clutch start cancel then your safety switch is bad.

You are sure that when you turn the key, that you are not getting 12v through the black small gauge wire that plugs into the starter solenoid?

IF you have narrowed it down, and you have metered out the connections to starter and ignition switch and they look good, I would move to the Clutch switch. Easiest option is to get under your dash and unplug the switch that is attached to your clutch pedal bracket, then grab either a short piece of wire or a paper clip and push it into each female plug on the ecu side of the harness. This will effectively bypass the switch on your dash and the switch on the pedal.

The clutch start cancel button does not turn the truck over . I jumped the clutch switch plug with wire and still have nothing, the one thing I noticed was before when I turned the key I only heard the fuel pump when the key was turned . Now the fp runs until the key is tunred back to off
