I’m not a fan of the oval Toyota logo. It was the first thing I removed when I had the (broken) grill off to change headlights, in the first days I owned it.

That was just an emblem I had the I used to run on the Scion (it’s the old Toyota logo).
I’d like to do better, on a non-broken grill.
So far, this is all I’ve found, & it’s fairly expensive to need a gutted OEM-type one to install.

    Besides tiny slats, it’s OK.

    Are there other alternatives?
Has anyone put a mesh insert into the early grill? If so, how was it done?

I’m really interested in making something old-school & non-chrome/polished billet. I ordered 2 black/silver grills from Rock Auto to use.

I’d love to see what’s been done on 2wd & 4wd early grills, esp. HOW it was done.
My search mojo was useless, only finding mesh grills on gen 2 & 3 models.

I can fabricate somewhat, so I’m looking for ideas & what’s out there.

(Or if anyone has something they can unload to me ... like a 1980s or 90s Hilux grill & can integrate into the Taco frame hahahahaha.)

I think the thing you might want to search is satoshi grills.

Which totally sounds like some sort of Japanese BBQ place.
